Dark chocolate and toasted nut aroma...more brown ale. Dark brown to black appearance. Smokey, woody chocolate malt flavor with a very bitter coffee aftertaste. Heavy body without weighing you down. Very orthodox stout.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark cola-red with fluffy beige head. Not much aroma to it, some burnt maltiness. Tastes similarly roasty and burnt, a bit of coffee and nuttiness, ends on a dry bitter note. Surprising amount of carbonation with a medium-to-thin body. Not incredibly exciting but very drinkable and bitter and big enough. Of the stouts that I can get regularly, this is a nice dependable one.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
35 cl bottle, 5.8%. Dark brown colour, almost black, thick beige head. Aroma is dark roasted malts with dark chockolate and a bit of coffee, possibly a remainder of yeast. Lots of hops, unexpected for the style. Dry, sharp, bitter finish. Bitter hops in the finish with some alcohol. Proper carbonation, light to medium bodied, easy to drink and well balanced. Solid stout, nice.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle. Finally getting around to rating this one. Really one of my favorite standard, regularly available stouts. It pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is very roasted with some hints of bread and light caramel and coffee. The flavor is kind of the same. Very smooth full body with roasted malts, coffee, caramel and a distinct American floral, woody hop finish. Classic American stout. Love it.
