3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A great stout with roasted malt being strong in the aroma backed up with some coffee. These come through in the flavour predominantly and it has a buttery quality to it. On the finish is some very clean grassy notes giving it some bite and a smooth bitterness. Very nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black with a thin-medium beige head which diminishes quite quickly. Aroma of earthy hops, nutty, roast chocolate malt, coffee. Light sweet bitter finish, superbly well balanced. Thick oily texture, low carbonation. Really, really good beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. It pours dark brown with am lasting tannish head. Good sweet and dark malty aroma along with a buttery kind of character. Unusual for Sierra Nevada but the hops are next to nowhere. The body is medium and smooth. The taste has a mild milk chocolate character followed by a dark malt and slight bitterness at the end. Keeping the hops at a minimum on this one.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark as Espresso with a thin tan head that dissipated quickly. Smoky with toasted malt and coffee. Hints of toffee and licorice. Grassy hops? That doesn’t quite fit. It good, but not quite what I have come to expect in a stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 30, 2014 I?m not a huge stout fan but this is one of the best I?ve had. It?s almost a little too rich at times, full of toffee and liquorice, but it?s a beautifully put together bev.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From 355 ml bottle. Pours a solid black with a fluffy tan head that diminishes to a collar. Aromas of pine, black coffee and spices. The taste starts off with more black coffee before a firm pine resin bitterness kicks in. That slips away leaving a cocoa powder note. Pine and spice in the aftertaste. Substantial body. Drinks a bit like a black IPA. Pretty great though.
