Brown black, coffeish color with a decent beige head. Aromas contain bitter chocolate, burned, toasty malts and coffee beans - this defines more or less the archetype of a stout nose for me, nothing stands out to much, aromas are working well together. Taste begins with sweeter bready malts, along with a subtle coffee bitterness. Fantastic smooth, nearly creamy mouthfeel. The most interessting part is, that both taste directions, sweet malts and bitter coffee are in perfect balance from the beginning till the end, resulting in a creamy, slightly bitter finish. Gentle, fresh crushed coffee beans lead to pleasantly bitter, toasty aftertaste. This beer wins by its outstanding balance, on the other hand, its not too far away from their porter either.

Poured very dark, lasting tan head. Aroma was hoppy. Flavor was chocolate, cocoa, slightly espresso, just the right carbonation. Great mouth feel and taste, very impressive.

Trevlig.

Transfer from BA review on 4-1-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Poured a deep brown, nearly black color with a very nice tan head. The head was quite billowy and persistent. Once faded it gave way to some decent lacing. Smell – Cocoa and lighter roasty malt are the base aromas. These are mixed with some sweeter caramel and vanilla as well, giving a pleasant warm aroma. Taste – Initially the taste is a roasted malt. It is a little bitter in the beginning but the caramel and vanilla in the nose come in quickly creating a semi-sweet roasty flavor. Just after the vanilla and the caramel arrive, the cocoa flavor begins to develop. The cocoa sweetens the flavor even more toward the end of and the chocolate taste really takes hold, leaving a slightly roasty, chocolate taste in the mouth. Mouthfeel – A medium to slightly above average body with a lower level of carbonation. The lower carbonation accentuates the thicker body creating a nice creamy body, which suits the beers taste profile quite well. Overall – A good affordable session drinking stout. It has a nice taste, a creamy body, and is not overpowering, making it quite easy to drink.

Bottle in our appartment, Kanapali Maui, from Wine Corner Paia, 25/04/14. Black with a good sized tan head that retains well. Nose is roast malt, toffee fudge, cocoa nibs, light coffee grinds. Taste comprises toffee fudge, chocolate, light coffee roast, roast malt, cocoa powder. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent well balanced stout.

With an ABV of 5.8% Sierra Nevada’s Stout is quite light by today’s standards. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a full-bodied flavor, though. In terms of appearance, Stout is extremely sexy with a black body and a velvety light brown head. The aroma is all coffee roast and bittersweet cocoa. When the liquid hits your tongue, you’ll find that it’s as sensational as it is tasty. I realize that statement requires some explanation. The flavors of coffee roast and cocoa (which are perfectly balance by the way) travel smoothly to the back of the mouth. When the ale hits the palate, however, a burst of hops appears in a flash to cleanse the rich, creamy flavors. The transition from coffee/raw-chocolate bitterness to earthy hop bitterness is brilliant. Stout truly is miraculously balanced. Thanks to a low ABV and a modest hop profile, it’s downright refreshing - that’s certainly not something you can say about every American Stout.

Bottle at home. Pours a deep reddish brown to black colour with a big, beige, creamy head. Roasted aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, dried fruit and leather. The flavour has more roasted malt, coffee and ash. Has a slick mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. A roasted and nice stout.

Mørk i utseendet, medium skum. Fruktig aroma med noe kaffe og muligens lakris. God. Smaken er først noe søt, så blir den bitrere etterhvert. I ettersmaken er den deilig bitter. Ellers finner jeg sjokolade, røstet malt og kaffe i smaken. Medium konsistens.
