Duke (117), New York, USA Mar 13, 2004 Updated: Mar 26, 2004 Almost black with a huge tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma is a little weak. Flavor is also hard to pin. Good but not great for a stout.
SuperDave70 (929), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Dec 1, 2008 Deep black pour with a creamy, lacy head that lasts throughout. Roasted coffee, malt, chocolate, fruit and hints of hops in the aroma. Flavor follows the same pattern, but is surprisingly not too sweet. Smooth and creamy on the palate. Hops come through on the finish. A good six-pack stout. tarheels86 (167), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Nov 28, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a good two finger tan head. Incredible lacing- some of the best I have seen. Aromas of hops, hop resin, roasted malt, espresso, dark chocolate. Taste is likewise with a nice creamy mouthfeel. It is nice for once to really see the hops shine through in a stout. Aftertaste is a bit tart and sour and is long and dry. This has an A+ on beeradvocate and I can see why. WakeandBake (148), Greenville, Michigan, USA Nov 27, 2008 Pours black with creamy tan head that hangs around. Nice lacing on glass.Aroma is hoppy, roasted coffee and chocolate, maybe some caramel. Taste is much the same, bitter not sweet some dark fruit and floral hops help with the balance,a dry finish.Smooth creamy mouthfeel, very drinkable
gwpom (210), Akron, New York, USA Nov 21, 2008 12 oz bottle. I’ve long been a big fan of the SN Porter, and was pleased to finally see the stout available. The head is a little more cream colored than brown, but the rest of this brew screams pure stout. Roasted hop flavor, no chocolate flavor to speak of, just a nice rich stout. Bon Apetit! jimmack34 (158), Ohio, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a frothy creamy tan head. Smells like roasted, sweet, coffee and chocolate. Tastes like creamy dark coffee, with hints of chocolate, nutty, smooth, even a little smokey. Smooth spiciness come through in the finish, as well as a malty sticky aftertaste. Pretty good stuff.
