It’s been years since I tried this brew, and I don’t recall being that impressed. I have to say, either my palate or the recipe has changed ... and I am guessing my palate. Nice maltiness in the aroma and some rainy plums. Flavor is robust with a touch of roasted acridity at the end. Overall a very solid stout.

Bottle from Rehill’s of Jesmond. Pours deep mahogany with a thin cream head. Cocoa aroma. The taste is moderate spice with nice chocolate malt. High carbonation for a stout and a touch thin bodied.

12 ounce bottle. Barely translucent black brown color topped by a large rocky beige head. Roasted malt nose. Flavor is more roasted malt with notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Slightly sweet with a touch of burnt caramel in the middle. Spicy hops in the finish. Nicely balanced and a nice cross between a sweet and dry stout. A classic American Stout.

Clear, almost black with medium lasting, frothy light tan head. Aroma has roasted malt, coffee, hoppy and caramel notes. Medium bitterness, licorice and coffee. Nice creamy mouthfeel.

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Pours a nice mahogany with a soapy beige head. Nice hop aromas along with cocoa powder, molasses, coffee and fig. Taste is more of the same with a nice bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel.

HKdIPA (364) - HONG KONG - MAR 9, 2015
Bottle from Citysuper at home. Thick black pour with thin creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted, chocolate, slightly pine bitter. Taste is deeply roasted - coffee and chocolate - but also satisfyingly bitter. Creamy palate. Really surprisingly good.

Bottle version. Roasted malt, coca, mild dry fruits and herbal hops, bitter coffee finish. Pretty smooth classic stout, probably a good quality benchmark.

Dark brown, low carb and head that doesn’t last long. Mouthfeel is watery, not my favorite in a stout, hint of sweetness but mostly darker malts and caramel, nothing burnt. Hint of coffee and chocolate and dark fruits. I’ll giave it points for complexity but not recipe. Finish is herbal and quite bitter.

Amargor y persistencia media. Cuerpo medio, carbonatación correcta. Retrogusto seco y amargo. Buen drinkability.

bottle-Friday Night Flights @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark cherry brown color, bubbly beige head cover, dots and streaks of lace. Taste is strong sweet malt that stays smooth as it sweeps through the palate to a mildly bittered finish. Unpretentious, easy to drink, but maybe too simple. Very good, not great.
