Poured this beer into a trumpet glass from the bottle to drink. It had a rich black color with a dark brown hue, and a big dark tan foamy/creamy head with average retention, good lacing, and excellent cling. The beer had a sweet malty chocolate aroma with notes of coffee, caramel, and nut, and also a toasty earthy hops component, and a slight smokey effect. Its taste was a sweet chocolate/caramel malt flavor with some toasty hops giving a slight smokey bitterness. It had an average-density body with a slight syrup effect, and was slightly dry, though a touch creamy with average carbonation and life.

Bottle. Pours black. Large tan head. Coffee aroma. Flavor of dark coffee and chocolate. Palate is on the thin side. Dry roasty mouthfeel. I was surprised that this had a lighter body, but with an ABV of 5.8% that probably is expected. Overall a good stout, maybe very good considering the lower alcohol content, but not crazy good. Would drink again.

12oz bottle pours a dark brown to almost black with mocha colored head. doesn’t last to long. in its own right this a good. but for me this is not so much a good stout. its does have some good aroma and the flavor is pretty decent. but stouts usually have a thicker body and somewhat a stronger flavor. that being said this has all the characteristics of a good stout but this one is not for me.

Pours black with medium head. Really nice chocolate notes with a bit of charred marshmallow. Bit of sweetness on the palate is cut by a bitter char. Richly creamy mouthfeel, low-medium carb.

"looks great, but it’s an odd one. a dry stout, but not in the irish style, so what you end up with is a somewhat hoppy, but still thin, west coast style stout. not bad at all, but not anything special. like shakespeare stout’s redheaded stepchild."

Clear dark mahogany colored beer with big beige head. Aroma and flavor have bread, chocolate, coffee and toasted malts. Palate is quite thin with medium carbonation. Finish has medium bitterness. Atertaste has coffee, roasted malts and bitterness. Decent, a bit thin.
