dlihcsnatas (35), Texas, USA May 13, 2008 This is a very traditional stout with a nice black color and chocolate malty flavor that has just enough hops to provide a nice bitterness. An excellent stout flavor but for some reason without the stout kick. Not sure why the low ABV compared to other stouts but maybe it had to do more with taste than warmth.
Pawola22 (36), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jul 19, 2008 12 oz bottle. The aroma was a definite roasty chocolate. Had some coffee notes as well. The appearance was dark and smooth, but it wasn’t as inviting as some stouts...pretty average looking. The flavor was really traditional with the chocolate, malt, and pronounced roast, but it really was too bitter. The palate was light and kinda creamy with a little watered down feel. Overall it was just average, but way too bitter for a watery stout. MatSciGuy (171), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jul 14, 2008 [Bottle] Pours a clear deep brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted barley, and is pretty bittersweet. Flavor follows with a nice medium mouthfeel. Nice roasted barley, bittersweet finish. mwsmith (12), , Alabama, USA Jul 14, 2008 A chocolate/coffee flavor that is potent at first, but then shrouded by the sharp bitterness. Some bitterness is great and necessary in a good stout, but not when it attacks the flavor. Still, a good beer. HenrikSoegaard (2914), Randers, Denmark Jul 13, 2008 Bottle. Creamy lightbrown excellent fully lasting head. Black colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter flavor. Long nice bitter hoppy finish. Creamy palate. A little too hoppy but nice. lithy (86), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 13, 2008 A beautifully pitch black pour with a milk chocolate color creamy head. Has a chocolatey aroma and seems to be hop heavy. Nice stout, roasted malt on the front, chocolate in the middle, and a chocolate/hop bitterness in the finish. A little too much carbonation but otherwise a nice stout.
