Sierra Nevada "Stout". Catchy name, eh? Ever had a beer with no head? The reason why is apparently because Sierra Nevada stole all the head from other breweries and put it in this beer. It reminds me very strongly of a stirred-up rootbeer float. Thick, light-brown and long lasting. I really appreciate a thick chewy texture in a stout and this one does well in that regard. Somehow seems to get thinner as it warms up. Mild bitter aftertaste. It reminds you that you've been drinking it, but doesn't interfear with your meal. For the price it's a great value. Simple flavor but with some character flaws, or in other words, personality. A good introduction to stouts for beginners or easy stand-by for seasoned drinkers. It has all the right stout clues with nothing too over-the-top. Smells like leather. Reddish color if you can see through the glass.

0,33l bottle at Cafe Aumann/Wien18. Its cool to see that more and more pubs and restaurants in Vienna offer craft beer. This stout is a fine example of its style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Rehill’s of Jesmond. Pours deep mahogany with a thin cream head. Cocoa aroma. The taste is moderate spice with nice chocolate malt. High carbonation for a stout and a touch thin bodied.
