Summerfest is a delightfully refreshing example of a traditional style lager beer. While lighter in body than our ales, Summerfest displays significant hop aroma and a tangy hop bite. The long lagering period adds a smoothness that makes this beer a great summertime treat.

The body has a golden yellow color with very good clarity and some nice visible carbonation. On top its head is bright white in color, slow fading and makes some nice lacing. It has a light nose of pale clean malt with a spicy and floral hop character. The flavor is medium bodied, crisp and very clean. Dry crisp biscuity malt foams the base for the lightly spicy and floral hops. These hops give the beer a nice overall bitterness. The finish is sharp and dry with some bitterness hanging on. The texture is light and refreshing with active cleansing carbonation.

Pours a clear bright golden color with white head. Cereal grain and subtle hop notes, citrusy, on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes very clean and very light. Great for a hot day.

Light, smooth and drinkable. Clear golden with small white head. Light grain aroma, taste is crackers, bread, more cereal grains. Hops are an afterthought, not enough for any bite or finish. As the name implies, a good summer beer though....

Tap at maxwell’s. Pint glass. Gold with little head. Aroma was underwhelming. Flavor is very little. Not terrible, but not good either.

Bottle from Market Basket Pours a medium straw color wit a decent sized white head that dissipates to wisps of foam on the top. spicy floral hop aroma with a light biscuity malt base. the flavor is crisp crackery bready malts with plenty of spicy hops to counter. Medium body with a moderate to high level of carbonation. Nice hoppy light pilsener beer I quite enjoyed this one.

Not as good as the label would suggest - quite a nice aroma but little on the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gold color. White head. Little lacing. Malty lager aroma. Taste is the same. Like a fresh PU.

This is my first summerfest of the year, a beer that was a staple in my fridge during the summer months the past few years. Every year I look forward to seeing that blue six-pack with the Sierra Nevada logo on it sitting on my grocery store’s shelf. It’s taken me a little longer this year around to picking one up. My taste in beer has changed quite a bit over just the past year, so it will be interesting to see how I feel about this year’s batch. Here we go. Pours a clear, pale gold with a fizzy one finger white head. Seems to be disappearing rather quickly but leaves a thin white cap on the beer. Decent looking by Pilsner standards. There was a noticeable skunky aroma coming off the beer as I was pouring it into the glass. That seems to have dissipated a bit as it sits in the glass though. It still lingers amongst the sweet malt, wet grass, and honey aromas that make up the rest of the beer. Flavor is a bit spicy and bitter on the very front, but that quickly fades away into a sweet, bready malt flavor. The finish is sweet and almost graham cracker like. Ah yes, that’s the flavor that I remember from summers past. Subsequent sips don’t quite match up to the first, but the beer remains immensely enjoyable as a summer-time beverage. Once again, I’m sure this beer will be a staple in my fridge this summer. As I get towards the end of the beer there is a hint of a metallic like flavor but it’s very subtle. This is not the best beer I’ve ever had, it’s probably not even the best pilsner, but it really hits the spot on a summer day.

Nice lager. Very crisp, pretty assertive. Floral hops. Clean yeast. Super clear pale yellow. Big upgrade from standard American lager.

Tap from Lazy Dog. Pours a sickly pale yellow with minimal cream colored head. Aroma is slightly fruity. Taste of upfront malts with a citrus undercurrent.
