Commercial Description:
Summerfest is a delightfully refreshing example of a traditional style lager beer. While lighter in body than our ales, Summerfest displays significant hop aroma and a tangy hop bite. The long lagering period adds a smoothness that makes this beer a great summertime treat.

Bittering Hops: Perle & Saaz
Beginning Gravity: 11.8 Plato
Finishing Hops: Saaz
Ending Gravity: 2.7 Plato
Malts: Two-row Pale, Dextrin Malt, Munich
Yeast: Lager Yeast (bottom fermenting)

Bottle, 12 oz. 2008 vintage. Pours clear gold with a white (off-white?) head. Sweet malt aroma with some floral notes. Light bitterness on the palate with a lot of carbonation. Metallic finish was disappointing. Something’s missing in this beer.

12 oz. bottle on 6/3/2008. Light gold pour, medium white head that lasts fairly well. Floral hops, grassy, light malty aroma. Sight body and medium carbonation, crisp, clean palate. Light grainy sweetness and a clean spicy bitterness balance well. Refreshing, lightly flavored, a nice thirst quencher.

On tap @ Mission Pizza, pours pale golden with decent, almost white head. Nice smooth. subtle hop nose. The flavor is crisp and clean with smooth malt and a bit of biscuit. Clean finish. Quite refreshing.

Bottle. Light golden color with a medium-thick, nearly-white, foamy head. Faint hoppy aromas. Light hops and sweet peaches up front with toasted oats on the back end (or even Cheerios). Good summer sippin’ beer.

Draught at TDR Ex: Aroma of citrus, hops, caramel, and lager yeast. Poured yellow (like piss) in color with a tiny white head. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Small lacing. Light to medium bitter flavors. Tastes of lager yeast, bitter hops, and hints of lemon, bubblegum, and salt. Standard lager flavor. Medium body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Hops and lager yeast finish.

Golden pour with a thin white head. Aroma of cereal grains, dusty hay, honey, lemon, and Saaz hops. Clean palate. Easy drinking and not overly interesting. However it is refreshing. Good lawnmower beer.

Wow! Only a 44 overall on Ratebeer??? This beer is being under rated. Perhaps folks are expecting something different when they purchase. This is a Summer Lager. Perhaps they are looking for an ale, or an IPA, or a sweet summer wheat. I don’t know. This beer poured into my favorite pint glass a golden amber with a slight protein haze to it. Formed a nice white head that laced my glass nicely. The nose is HUGE bread dough, and you can anticipate the hops. The taste is tart citrus on the front of the tongue. Definitely fruit, but not really sweet. Then POW, the hops hit in the depths of the cheeks and all the way down the hatch. Great finish to this over-hopped lager. Makes me want another gulp. Yummy. Come on folks, be sure to rate the beers for what they are. This is a lager, and I dare say I would be hard pressed to find another lager with this much flavor punch (except Czechvar). I would encourage everyone who rated this beer below the 3 to give it a second swig. Cheers.
