Summerfest is a delightfully refreshing example of a traditional style lager beer. While lighter in body than our ales, Summerfest displays significant hop aroma and a tangy hop bite. The long lagering period adds a smoothness that makes this beer a great summertime treat.

Golden pour with a thin white head. Aroma of cereal grains, dusty hay, honey, lemon, and Saaz hops. Clean palate. Easy drinking and not overly interesting. However it is refreshing. Good lawnmower beer.

Wow! Only a 44 overall on Ratebeer??? This beer is being under rated. Perhaps folks are expecting something different when they purchase. This is a Summer Lager. Perhaps they are looking for an ale, or an IPA, or a sweet summer wheat. I don’t know. This beer poured into my favorite pint glass a golden amber with a slight protein haze to it. Formed a nice white head that laced my glass nicely. The nose is HUGE bread dough, and you can anticipate the hops. The taste is tart citrus on the front of the tongue. Definitely fruit, but not really sweet. Then POW, the hops hit in the depths of the cheeks and all the way down the hatch. Great finish to this over-hopped lager. Makes me want another gulp. Yummy. Come on folks, be sure to rate the beers for what they are. This is a lager, and I dare say I would be hard pressed to find another lager with this much flavor punch (except Czechvar). I would encourage everyone who rated this beer below the 3 to give it a second swig. Cheers.

I just mowed the lawn, so time for what I think might be a lawn mower beer... Bottle pours a crystal golden color with a bright white head that fades quickly leaving some lace. The aroma is floral and grassy (could be the grass clippings), perhaps some malty notes. The flavor is sweet, decent malt twang, nice and mellow hops, with a very refreshing and quenching palate. Overall, this works well for a lawn mower beer (after you mow of course).

Had this one on draft. This lager poured a cloudy yellow with a nice white head.Aromas and flavors were of bread and hops and light citrus,Also detected some bitterness in the finish. Not too bad of an offering fron Sierra.

Pours clear golden with white head. Light grassy hop aroma. Slightly bitter flavor with a crisp finish. Light to medium body with average carbonation. Refreshing but average.

I found the stale corn aroma. Minimal flavor and where is the tangy hop bite. Quite the disappointment from one of my top 5 breweries.

Pours a pale clear yellow with a decent cap of white head and a little lace that clings to the glass. Light crispy scent with some interesting floral hop scents. Taste was crisp and grainy with an underlying hint of lemon. The carbonation level seemed rather low in this, but it was otherwise a well balanced beer. Serving type: bottle

May 29, 2008; 12 oz. bottle. Lagers are definitely a red-headed stepchild within the rarified air of beer-snobbery, but this is a quality brew. As good a signature hop flavor & palate as you’re ever likely to find in the style. If you’re hankerin’ for a lager, this is a good choice. Thumbs up.
