Commercial Description:
Summerfest is a delightfully refreshing example of a traditional style lager beer. While lighter in body than our ales, Summerfest displays significant hop aroma and a tangy hop bite. The long lagering period adds a smoothness that makes this beer a great summertime treat.

Bittering Hops: Perle & Saaz
Beginning Gravity: 11.8 Plato
Finishing Hops: Saaz
Ending Gravity: 2.7 Plato
Malts: Two-row Pale, Dextrin Malt, Munich
Yeast: Lager Yeast (bottom fermenting)

Pretty unremarkable in a lot of ways. Clear yellow pour, small crown that dissipates like nothing. Not much nose, perhaps a bit of tang. Taste is clean, and what you want in a summer beer. Still, I would reach for a few other things on a hot day before this one. Not a bad effort, but certainly not Sierra’s most inspired brew.

golden with only mild head. some nice malt components with little hop presence that makes the beer taste somewhat like malt liquor

12oz bottle poured into a lager glass. SNS pours rich yellow with a nice lace-leaving head. It has a thick grainy aroma that reminds me of a tour of a corn-processing plant. The flavor is a nice alternative to the typical pale lagers that you get in the summertime. There’s a bit of bitterness to ease this beer along. The body is medium-to-heavy (for the style). The finish lingers a bit with bitterness that could be rounded out some more.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow. Quickly diminishing pale head. The aroma is very light, very corny, very sweet. The flavour is pretty corny. It has a syrupy sweetness. Passing the tongue, the brew is a little tangy. Towards the finish, there is a very, very light hopsy bite. But it’s not really that pleasant. It actually adds a sort of astringent flavour to this. It’s not the worst, but it’s not good.

Golden body with a one finger head that lasts about a minute. Carbonation is significant initially but quickly fades. The description claims a hoppy aroma but malt dominated mine. Moderately bitter. Balanced taste. There is a nice hop zestiness that adds some depth to an otherwise sweeter beer. Wood is a significant flavor. All in all there isn’t a lot going on here but there are distinct flavors and feels that make it an interesting beer to sample.

Bottle; pours a very clear gold with a white head. A lot of visible carbonation streams. Aroma was pretty solid for the style; a balance between lightly toasted, bready malts and lemon/grass hops. Flavor was surprisingly good; some pilsner elements. Balanced flavor with some nice, earthy hopping. Respectable, refreshing brew.

Summerfest 2008. Pours a clear golden color. Advertised as a lager but almost has aroma and taste of a weak pilsner. Not what I was expecting so it was disapointing from that aspect. As with the other reviews I have read, this does remind me of an average/below average macro.
