spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Apr 22, 2008 Pours golden with slight copper tint. Minimal head and lacing. Nice aroma for a lager.
Taste is slightly hoppy lager with a bit of European flavor. Malts are subdued but o.k. Good session beer if lagers are your passion. Problem is I could have had the amber or IPA for the same $6.99. I think I prefer the Full Sail Session Lager taste-wise. If you like more euro-flavors give it a try, but try to buy a single first. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Apr 22, 2008 Pours a nice golden color with small white head that is soapy. Nose is pretty offensive, Catty, alcoholic, grassy and corn like. Taste is moderately bitter with some barly and a somewhat gross finish. I was not a fan. Swalden28 (1440), McKinney, Texas, USA Apr 21, 2008 Bottle. Poured a very nice looking crystal light gold with minimal white head...Aroma was nice floral/citris hops. Flavor was an obvious hop presence along with a light malty flavor finishing in a slight bitter, but had a not so pleasant after taste....Palate was very smooth light-medium body with medium carbonation. Not bad, could have done without the odd aftertaste.....Would have rated it higher.. milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Apr 21, 2008 Updated: May 30, 2009Light crisp aroma of lemon, wheat, a hint of Saaz....and then the skunk. Flavor was malty, with a citrus middle and typical lager finish. Overall, not bad for a lager...I could probably drink a few more...wait, you didn’t here me say that. jodyperkins (70), Mississippi, USA Apr 20, 2008 2008 from bottle. Pours a light golden honey color. Not much of a head. Has a bit of a citrus taste - foamy mouthfeel. It’s not bad but it’s the worst I’ve ever had from SN. I’ve had better lagers by far.
Aquilo (248), California, USA Apr 19, 2008 2008. I’m kinda surprised that this is not listed by year. I remember this being quite good in previous years, but this one is nothing to write home about. Pours clear honey-yellow, with a nice big foamy head. Smells of hops and dried apricots. Taste is eucalyptus and juniper. Blah. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Apr 19, 2008 Poured golden yellow from 12 oz bottle. Formed large foamy head, aroma of grass, hops, ocean water. Flavour was of sweet corn, floral hops, and carbonated water. I guess it was ok, considering it was a lager type beer, however coming from SN I was a little disappointed. Serve it up on tap on a hot day for friends or lawn, other wise take it somewhere else. Sorry fellas. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Apr 18, 2008 Updated: Aug 4, 200912oz bottle. Blasts of sulfur and grassy hops waft at you, followed by some herbs. Crisp, hoppy flavor, with bready malts that provide a nice sweetness. Clean, light mouthfeel with ample carbonation. Definitely retains the SN signature character despite the lager yeast. Not bad, but I think that they could do better. (3)
Rerate: either they did better this year, or I just like pilseners more... Let’s see, a golden all-malt lager with lats of saaz aroma and flavor, ya this is a pils, and a pretty decent one at that. Good aroma and flavor coming from the hops, but the malt is a little less vivid and bready than I would like. Light and refreshing with a nice lasting bitterness in the finish that doesn’t go too overboard. Another nice beer from the Norcal boys. I really do need to make it up from Chico one of these days.
