Commercial Description:
Summerfest is a delightfully refreshing example of a traditional style lager beer. While lighter in body than our ales, Summerfest displays significant hop aroma and a tangy hop bite. The long lagering period adds a smoothness that makes this beer a great summertime treat.

Bottle.[Tasting session @ yespr, thanks for a great evening Jesper] Average egg-white head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Light cloudy pale golden colour. Aroma of dusty grain, mash, hint of caramel. Not much hops to be detected, properly because this was bottled in 2005. Over the palate some light notes of hops can be felt. Light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation and light dry texture. Moderated sweet flavour and light bitterness. Light dry and sweet finish.

The aroma is a mild malty breadiness. Pours a clear yellow gold with big bubbles and a small white head that has been hanging out for a minute now. First flavor is the bread malt followed by slight sweetness then a nice crisp hoppy finish. A little bitter but mostly crisp. Light bodied. Easy drinking, but tasty. Definitely better than any pale lager brewed by gigantic American breweries. Also reminded me of a pilsner style beer, probably due to the Saaz hops.

Suprising by Sierra Nevadas Standards. Not a lot of hops or malt present, Smooth and crisp and very drinkable, but not a lot of aroma or taste overall. Alchol isn’t noticeable, and overall this is a refresher, and nothing much more.

Straight from the bottle. I didn’t want my buzz to go away. Still had some hop character after all these months. The malt and alcohol are starting to come through a little bit. Thanks to Mike Smith GM of Canal’s for hooking me up with a case for free.

Pours with a tight, white, medium-sized head. Color is very golden and translucent for the most part. Aroma is sharp and hoppy. Flavor is smooth, but biting and slightly sharp as well. Finishes smooth.

Bottle from the evil one. Golden yellow, not much head. Like your wife ha ha! Malty like my mate. Smells of pudding, not the sunday dinner kind. Decent lager

(Bottle (2007) from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/portland/ target=blank>Downeast Beverage Co.) Pours clear golden-yellow with a tall marshmallow fluff-like white head. Aroma is mostly malty, kind of like vanilla and honey, maybe a touch of piney hops. Mouthfeel is medium-full and pretty smooth. Flavor is a nice dose of maltiness, mostly light honey and vanilla, maybe some bread, with a light bitterness overlaying and a light bitter bite in the finish. A pretty decent lager with a good malt backbone and hoppy bite.
