Summerfest is a delightfully refreshing example of a traditional style lager beer. While lighter in body than our ales, Summerfest displays significant hop aroma and a tangy hop bite. The long lagering period adds a smoothness that makes this beer a great summertime treat.

Sierra Nevada Summerfest 12 oz bottle Moderate pour in a shaker. Labeled 2007, enjoyed 06/07 Poured a hay gold color with a large mostly lasting white rocky head. Smelt of moderate citrus, grass, tea leaves and flowery wheat. Taste was upfront moderate bitter grassy hops and light sweet and sour oranges and lemons followed by a strong bitter lemon grass medium to average finish. Palate was light to medium bodied, slightly creamy, lively carbonated and lightly astringent. Overall, this a great summer beer with a perfect bitter and sour bite. Kind of like a mix between a czech pilsner and a witbier. Very interesting and relaxing summer brew.

Great summer beer that is better than the mass produced stuff. The aroma is hoppy with a little bit of fruit mixed in. The flavor doesn’t do the hoppy aroma any justice and the flavor dies out too quick. For the money, I know I can find better beer out there.

Big white head shrinks slowly leaving coarse lacing. Pale yellow body. Chalky apple aroma, like a Czech lager, with firm malty notes. Sweetish, resiny taste, extremely clean, slightly fruity. Some medicinal notes and faint fruity hops. Not much aftertaste, just a dry hint. Nice, mellow, not too exciting. Quite good. (0.355l bottle. Rerated bottle from Sainsbury’s, London.)

Bottle. Pours with a clear golden color. Aromas of dough and some hops. Flavors of mild hops, bread and some citrus notes. Very refreshing and fairly light, indeed a good beer for summer.

On Tap at the Old Boise Brew Fest 07 pours out clear yellow topped with a white head. A little grain on this one.

6/20/2007: Sierra Nevada Summerfest is golden in color, clear, and has a white head. The aroma is mostly pale malts with a hint of hops and the flavor has some toasty malt and some light, delicate, spicy hops. The body is medium-light. This beer is easy to drink, but there really isn’t anything exciting about it. Quite unmemorable overall.

12 oz bottles (Alc 5.0% by Vol.) shared by uncle at the Junedale Beer Klub June "Ales of Summer" beer tasting. Thanks!

The commercial description says"Premium Lager" but this verges awfully close to ordinary Pale Lager-think Leinenkugel’s and you’d be close.
