Summerfest is a delightfully refreshing example of a traditional style lager beer. While lighter in body than our ales, Summerfest displays significant hop aroma and a tangy hop bite. The long lagering period adds a smoothness that makes this beer a great summertime treat.

My first response after tasting this for the first time was that it was a Budweiser clone. So the next day, I did a side by side tasting of the Budweiser and Summerfest. The difference were so minimal that if someone were to switch these two, I would not be able to tell a difference. The only differences were in the appearance and slight bitterness. The head on Summerfest stuck around proving that it used malt instead of corn and rice. But the Aromas and Flavors were identical. This is what I would consider an epic fail on Sierra Nevada’s part. If they were looking for a way to make a more expensive version of Budweiser, then they have succeeded.

Bottle. Clear golden color with a medium head. Aroma and taste is just plain Jane Pilsner.

Bottle. Gold with a white head that doesn’t last that well. Grainy aroma with some nice, quite delicate spicy and floral notes, some lemon. Sweet hay and grains don’t dovetail all that well with the hops, but there’s some spicy bitterness. Sound enough but uneventful.

Bottle from beer52. Clear pale yellow, small white head. Aroma is grassy and a bit bland, no sweetcorn though. Taste is bitter and dry and crisp. Not too thin and medium carbonation. Not a bad lager.

On tap at yard house. Straw yellow color quickly disappearing head. Very grain like wet hay and phenolic. Taste like a bad clear Hefeweizen.

Bottled 04/15. Pours light and hazy. White cloudy head. Aroma is light, slight lemon, a little corny, maltiness is kinda nice. Decent lager. As far as lagers go it’s actually really solid.

Aroma of wheat and bandits. Flavor is real phenolic for Pilsner. Almost Hefeweizen not really liking it.

Tastes like fosters. Why bother? A generic lager that tastes like lipstick.

Nothing special for my taste, not very Malty or interesting, solid overall but hard to tell it apart
