Commercial Description:
Summerfest is a delightfully refreshing example of a traditional style lager beer. While lighter in body than our ales, Summerfest displays significant hop aroma and a tangy hop bite. The long lagering period adds a smoothness that makes this beer a great summertime treat.

Beginning Gravity: 11.8 Plato
Finishing Hops: Saaz
Ending Gravity: 2.7 Plato
Malts: Two-row Pale, Dextrin Malt, Munich
Yeast: Lager Yeast (bottom fermenting)

Bright gold with white head. Aromas of corn sugar, grass, copper, and spicy grassy hops. Flavor is powdery, sugary malt with grassy hops and a little fruitiness in the background. Very hoppy in the finish, and the hops seem a bit out of place throughout. Thin overall, but tasty and very drinkable.

Smooth mildly bitter lager. A lager with bite. Yummy and refreshing. Ginormous lacing and pretty head. Pale gold in color. Crisp. Aroma of hops more than malt. Not bad for summer.

I love sierra, this is really their first beer I haven’t been too fond of. Given the style its alright, better than macro lagers, but this beer really is lacking that great sierra nevada taste. There is flavor of malts, with a thin, hard to detect hop finish.

draft. Yeasty, sulphury aroma wth sweet malts and hints of grassy hops. Pours clear blonde with a thick white head. Sweet cereal like malts up front with honey, a crisp hop bite with some sweet grassy notes in finish. Very light and crisp nice for a summer day.

12oz from Sam’s, Durham. I almost feel guilty giving such a low rating to a SN beer, since I have such a high regard for their stuff in general. But this is effectively not too far from macro stuff, a lightly flavorful lager that’s thin on the hops and, alas, in the taste.

I’ll start off by saying that I love a good lager, especially one with a good amount of hops. This beer has a very soft floral aroma with an even balance of grains, is light golden in color, and has a fair head for a lager. It is lighter than their Pale Ale, as it should be for a Summer seasonal, but still has a decent body. The overall palate is dry with floral, citrus undertones to compliment the malt grainy majority that creates a very crisp beer.
