2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The taste is ok, but there’s not much depth or body. I expect a better beef from Sierra Nevada, and was disappointed in this beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: Pours a golden straw ale with brilliant clarity (like it amplifies the pixels on my screen like a magnifying glass). A single finger of bone white foam falls over a couple minutes to a thin quilt of the same. Good spotty lacing.
S: Smells fresh and simple: grains, sweetgrass, simple crisp hops and that’s about it. This is the way this beer should be, nice. Totally low impact and refreshing in tone.
T: Nice and crispy hops are proficient, a little higher than I recall having had this earlier today. The beer has a mid palate flavor that reminds me of cornbread, which I like. The hops really offer the premier degree of refreshment this beer can provide.
M: Medium to low body with higher carbonation. This is the prime composition for the style IMO.
O: This is a great example of the style. Having just been to the Czech Beer festival in Berlin, I would argue this competes with the originals.

Twenty-nine degrees at 7.30pm means summer is well and truly here. Let the quenching begin. This is a clean, generally well-made but mildly over-carbonated session lager. Just a bit too ’grippy’ on the tongue and fractionally astringent. Hazy gold, with a loose, low head. Nice European Saazy aroma - one sniff conjures up images of sun-drenched hop fields. Faint lemon cordial and yeast. Carbonation verges on harsh for the style - verges. Prominent Munich and pale malts in the mid-palate before a slightly metallic finish. Is that the Perle? Could almost believe there was Pride of Ringwood in this if it wasn’t for the detailed list of ingredients.

There’s something about this beer that doesn’t quite work, as if the constituent ingredients didn’t come together. The 5.0% alcohol is strangely prominent.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Plonk. Pale amber/gold, not much head, dry, crisp beer, flavours and aromas quite subdued, not the usual big Sierra Nevada beer, a bid doughy/bready, some grassy hops, light body, thin palate. So so.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle, pours a nice bright yellow, aroma is light straw flavour, taste is light hops and smooth, think our bottle was slightly stale but it was still drinkable

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle form Mane Liquor. Ehhhhh. Pours pissy clear yellow with a small and pathetic white head. Aroma of dull flowers, wet cardboard and not much else. Watery body, no flavour. Think I’ll stick to Nevada’s ales.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hyvin vaalea, muistuttaa ulkoisesti hieman saksalaisia pilsnereitä. Tiheä, mutta ohut vaahtokerros. Miellyttävän hedelmäinen humalointi, jälkimaussa hieman sitrusta.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 4/4/2013. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon zest, pear, apple, grape, floral, grass, cracker, bread, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, pear, apple, cracker, bread, floral, grass, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, cracker, bread, floral, grass, light pepper, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester flavors; with good robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good pilsner style. All around well balanced flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap @ Frankie’s Pizza. No denying this is a modern take on a classic style. Super clean and friendly and just the right hint of talcum powder and dusty minerals. Not enough daggy musty hops for the purists but there’s no doubt this will suit the Sydney market :)

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A decent offering from Sierra Nevada. Good on a hot day as the name goes. Overall I’d say a nice gateway beer.
