killjoy966 (108), USA May 21, 2008 Maybe it’s due to years of drinking macro brews, but I fail to find anything exciting about this beer. While not as watered down and corny as a pale lager, there isn’t much to impress. Nice and fizzy on the tongue and a nice distraction from the Kolsch-wannabes that tend to be passed about as summer beers.
wyzzywyz22 (453), Wirral, Merseyside, England Nov 21, 2008 Bottle, Ale Cellar, Darlington. Lightish amber colour with a medium sized dissipating head. The aroma was vaguely matty, but couldn’t detect a massive amount going on . Crisp, grassyish flavour with muted hop and citrus tones. A better than average lager, but not really for me. Was expecting a bit more. jimmack34 (158), Ohio, USA Nov 21, 2008 2005 bottle, drank it 2006. Going off memory for this one, I forgot to write it down. Poured gold with soft white head. Lemon was the first smell to hit my nose, followed by a citric floral aroma. Tasted like a german lager with some lemon and some spice. Very smooth and highly drinkable. Wished I had more. fonefan (5507), Ulfborg, Denmark Nov 21, 2008 Bottle 350ml. @ home.
Clear medium to dark orange yellow color with a large, frothy, good - fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toaasted, fruity, light to moderate hoppy, lemon - acidic bitter sweet. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. (060908) KnutAlbert (2462), Oslo, Norway Oct 13, 2008 Bottle from a NYC deli.
Z crisp and clean lager. Like the best of the Northern German pilsners. Sometimes this is excactly what you want. BlackForestCO (629), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Sep 19, 2008 Bottle. Poured a crystal clear yellow color with a thick, rocky white head that left some spotty lacing. Aroma of light pale malts, some light honey, and some soft, floral hops. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some light honey leads into a lightly spicy, floral hoppiness that finishes with a light fruity citrus (mainly orange peel). Low carbonation, smooth on the palate, light hop bite on the finish. While it isn’t very complex, this is a well-crafted beer that really shows the difference between a good lager and a US Macro.
