This beer was brewed to honor the 25th anniversary of SF beer mecca The Toronado. It is a smokey Imperial Porter aged in oak casks previously used for bourbon. The rich dark chocolate and roasty malt flavors are balanced with the vanilla and coconut influences from the wood. This is a bold and robust porter.

Tap at Toronado SD. Shaker pint. Black with a small tan head, fair retentio . Nice old wood and bourbon nose, fair amount of chocolate and a littletoasted and roasted malt. Flavor has fresher bourbon and wetter/newer barrels, still not too hot, but some moderate dark chocolate and decent roast behind. Never harsh, pretty smooth. Dry, bitterness at a 2-3, not much alcohol. Full body, light creamy carbonation. Very tasty.

4 ounce sample on tap at Rubicon. The aroma has a lot of bourbon and rubber with some oaky woodiness, too. The barrel character dominates the aroma of this beer. Modestly transparent dark brown body with a small, off-white head. Starts astringent, boozy, and lightly tart with plenty of bourbon flavor. Becomes very oaky and woody in the middle. Finishes with some light vanilla sweetness and more bourbon flavors. Not a huge fan of this one-dimensional beer.

Pours black with a tan head. Roast malt and darkish fruit aromas. Full bodied. Flavor is mildly burnt malt with a lot of dark fruit, and some chocolate, smoke and wood. Sort of a baltic porter with a good dose of bitter. Finishes dryish, but not quite dry, with some bitter to go along. Nice!

On draft at Tap 25. It pours brown with a tan head. The aroma is toasty with good notes of chocolate and oak with a little smoke. The flavor is really well balanced with nice oak, vanilla, milk chocolate, toast and a bit of a smoky, roasted aftertaste. Full bodied, but not a chore to drink. I loved this one.
