COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

12 ounce bottle. Pours clear amber with a smokey white head. Malt is of light hay. Nose blends floral and citrus hops. Medium body, taste along the same lines as the nose. Nicely balanced. Alcohol pokes through towards the finish, which is moderately bitter with lingering floral and orange flavors. In the realm of top five IPA’s

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2010 Bottle. A - Dark black with deep walnut hues on the edge. A fairly large, sticky, cloudy, frothy cafe colored head. A bit above average retention that settles into a thin layer of lace and then later just a ring of lace. S - Very nice smelling with plenty of coffee aroma and a fair amount of hops as well with citrus being strongest but some others. Some chocolate/cocoa and some other roasted aromas. Good amount of earthy aroma. T - Taste is similar to the nose, but it isn’t as enjoyable or as good as I had hoped for in comparison to the nose. Coffee and roasted barley and oats provide a lot of the flavor. Pretty well hopped as well with some citrus and earthy flavors being the strongest. Some sweet chocolate and a touch of caramel. M - Medium body with a good amount of carbonation. Smooth and fairly creamy and chewy feel. Pretty good but not the best feel in regards to other oatmeal stouts. D - Pretty easy to drink beer and tasty. Although with the onslaught of roasted flavors and hops make it a bit more difficult to keep drinking it all night. Notes: A nice beer with a lot of roasted and hop flavors. Lots of coffee flavors as well. I thought this was a good beer and it was tasty, but it wasn’t top notch.

12oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a 1/4 inch head. Citrus and bready scent . The hops are apparent with a lingering sweet malty flavor (not my favorite balance). A decent IPA.

Pours a one finger off-white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving some lace. Hazy amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Slight piney nose. Flavor is piney hops, not finding any malts, finishing with a lingering bitter aftertaste. The ’extra’ in the name is only a word - this is just an IPA that’s loaded with hops. $1.60 for a 12oz bottle from Beverage Warehouse Winooski, VT.

24oz bottle. Pours rich orange and clear. Carbonation is strong, aroma is sweet and malty. Hops are definitely there but not especially fruity or fresh. Beer is very malty and bitter, finishes tart and dry. Definitely a heavier dipa, bitter deep malting is what i’ll remember. Not a favorite
