Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

12oz bottle. I’m a big fan of Sierra Nevada beers and this one is very well made. The nose is exploding with hops and pine, which I expect from most SN beers. Head was somewhat soapy and the lacing was inconsistent.. Up front it has this nice sweetness, perhaps some grapefruit and a slight lemon zest while the back end hits with the bitterness and hop flavor I would expect from the Cali brewery(who are known for their intense use of hops in most all of their brews). This is a damn good beer, borderline great. I will have this again. CHEERS!

Bottle. Almost a sort of pale copper colour with a thin, lasting white head and medium carbonation. Incredible intoxicating citrus fruit hop aroma with a malt background reminiscent of dough. Substantial body, medium sweetness with a great juicy hop flavour leading to a medium bitter finish. A fantastic IPA.

Aroma is pine and grass, tastes pretty much as it smells with bready malt backing it up and a bitter hoppy aftertaste. This is probably the beer I drink most often.

Pours orange amber with a white head. Aroma is hop forward, bread, peach, lime, pine, light passion fruit, citrus and a sweet malty profile behind. Taste is pine, lime, juicy hops, mango, citrus, bread, sweet malts and some floral notes.. This was fresh and likeable!

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2012 1) Bottle. Red bronze with a thick, stable white foam. Chalky, Turkish Delight, peach flan, throat sweet aroma with alcohol showing. Been looking forward to trying this for a while but its just another one of those Peach Soother/Honey and Lemon Lockets-infused IPAs. Some late husk and biscuit. Otherwise tastes like regurgitated OJ. Some almost tripel-esque orange liqueur and peel notes as it warms. Less hoppy than the Pale Ale. Just doesn’t have enough to distract from the alcohol. A pity. 2) Bottle form Tesco, back-to-back with Oakham Citra. Brown sugar, cabbage, peach aroma. Stale, cooked orange kept in plastic, boiled sweet notes. Doesn’t taste of hops. Might have to resample fresher, stateside.

Bottle. Clear amber color with a medium white head. Great fresh citric hops aroma with some piney notes. Flavor starts with a bit of malty sweetness, but quickly turns into pleasant bitterness with grapefruity and piney and slightly floral hops. Medium-bodied. That was exactly the beer I needed after my hard day at work. An awesome IPA.

From a 355ml bottle on 8/8/2011 (best before 2/6/12). Pours a dark orange with a thickish head. The aroma is a little more subdued than I was expecting, but very nice none the less - citrus and pine, with some floral and honey notes. The flavour is anything but subdued. There’s big fruity sweetness up front, with orange and marmalade prominent, along with some caramel and more honey. All this sweet goodness is set off against a huge, grapefruity hop bitterness, which lingers long. A cracking IPA.

Bottle from Bierzwerg. Amber color with medium white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine and coriander. Taste, quite decent, grapefruit, pine, some fruit, maybe apricots. Bitter finish. Very nice.

This beer is very close to perfection. Beautiful foamy head, delicious hoppy aroma, and damn near perfect taste. The hoppiness is very present, but not at all overwhelming. Very very good beer.
