COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

12 US fl.oz bottle poured into my SN tumbler glass... The bottle I had was not too fresh, so that may had affected the flavour profile. This beer has a nice cloudy copper body with a rich beige head. Good head retention and some lacing. Looks absolutely beautiful and inviting! The nose is dominated by citrusy hops, with some pine notes still. A good solid caramel backbone, with hints of bread and toffee. Smells kind of sweet, but very IPA-like nevertheless. Wow, what a treat for my taste-buds! Starts out with a good hop bite, followed by a very juicy citrus flavour, with strong hints of orange and grapefruit. The finish is bittersweet, with some lingering bread and caramel notes. The sweetness is well-balanced with the bitterness, so you won’t have a problem with either of the two sensations. Torpedo is medium-bodied. The alcohol is pretty well-masked. The beer is smooth, refreshing and juicy! Feels great on the palate! The drinkability is good for a relatively strong beer! Goes down easily, provided you are used to hoppy beers! Drink in moderation, as the 7.2% ABV might get to you! All in all, this is my favourite SN beer, and one of the finest American IPA’s I’ve had to date!

Hjemme 13 Sep 10. Flaske 0,33l fra Alko/Rovaniemi. Gyldenbrun på farge. Kjempehøyt luftig skum som varer. Masse skum igjen på glassveggen. Sterk sammensatt fruktig aroma: Plommer, svisker, nøtter. Smaken er også rik, rund og fyldig. Plommer i forgrunnen. Etter hvert en kraftig bitterhet som blir vel heftig.

Pours amber with a yellowish white head. There’s quite an impressive lacing on this. Nose is of orange rind, lime, passion fruit, fudge or toffee malts, pine and hot beach sand. As it warms there’s a slight sulfurous aroma - like a rock pool. It’s bitter and malty in the mouth, where the hops turn to resinous flavours. I find some clay notes and peach blossom here. The mouth feel is medium with a soft carbonation. It finishes with bitter malts and sharp hops, not too fruity but fragrant. A very dependable IPA.

Aroma was of a typical IPA. pine resin, floral, you know the rest. appearance was an orangeish, peach with a tiny, quickly disapearing head. one finger. palate was a wonder. smooth, milky, and full. but not over bearing. overall it was an exellent IPA, worthy of comparing to Stones Ruination IPA.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2010 Torpedo is a great, affordable IPA. Much better than some similarly priced IPA. It’s got satisfying taste, but doesn’t quite have the satisfying hoppiness of some of some of the very best IPA’s. Still, with a punchy ABV, great taste, and affordability, this is an excellent staple IPA.

The aroma of crisp hops and citrus. The color is rich almost ruby amber with a decent white head. The flavor is lightly sweet malts with light hop flavor balanced together. The hop aren’t overbearing and slowly settle with some bitterness on the palate that lingers for a bit.

375 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Appearance is pale amber colour with a medium sized, white head with some lacing. The aroma is dominated with a lot of hops with notes of citrus and grass. Taste is also hoppy with a heavy bitterness. Also quite sweet. The palate is medium bodied with some fizz and alcohol. Overall an interesting, well made IPA with great balance.
