Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2010 Cask at GBBF 2009. Amber with a small off-white head. Strong pine and grapefruit hop aroma. Grapefruit peel also dominates the flavour followed by a really bitter finish

Bottled, 2010. Same notes, same score. Very intense

Truely beautiful beer, but the up front hoppiness whacks the tastiness of the drink Not even the high residual sweetness of this beer makes it. Maybe the torpedo is just a little too efficient extracting flavors when dry hopping? Not my favorite SN.

Soft, citrusy aroma. Citrus, both orange and grapefruit, made themselves known right from the start along with the rounded malts. Leads into a dry, bitter finish. Quite nice.

Pours a transparent amber hue with a thin off-white head. Aroma is of hops, pine and grass. Tastes hoppy with a kick of sweetness on the back. Pretty good.

One of the best new IPA’s to show up in local stores. Beautiful clear copper color. Nice lacing. Piney hop flavor with a nice bitter finish. This stands up to most if not all the Colorado IPA’s I get to regularly enjoy.

12 oz bottle. Smells of piney hops, malt. Pours a beautiful head with nice lacing; copper hue. Tastes of pine, alcohol. Pleasant bitterness lingers on the back of the tongue. Awesome, full-bodied IPA.

HH’s O-FEST TASTING: Herbal, piney hops, juicyfruit, and some malts in the nose. Nice balance of malts and hops. Grapefruit, caramel, and toffee flavors. Alcohol well hidden. I liked it.

Bottle (in NZ). A bright amber with a large airy foam head. Interestingly, the caramal malt dominates the nose, with the piney/citrus hops subdued. There’s no doubting the hops in the pallet, as they charge full steam ahead. Doesn’t have that chalkiness that this level of hopping can come with, just a big and clean bitterness. Doesn’t have the malty flavour I look for in an IPA, but a good example of what you can do with a lot of hops.
