Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

Poured a dark orange with almost two fingerís worth of white head. Aroma has a very resin like grassy tone. Taste is surprisingly high in alfa acids with a lot of resin. Herbal flavors also come across quite strong on the aftertaste. It definitely busts the palate if youíre planning to drink any milder beer afterwards. A rather enjoyable ipa.

Bottle.Nose is sweet. Citrus, specifically tangerone, with notes of apricot, peaches, and musk. Brilliantly clear copper with thin white head. Strong bitterness but well-restrained, allowing fruit character to shine. Medium bodied with firm astringency.

12oz bottle. Great IPA from SN. Itís between the more traditional IPA and DIPA styles. Overall, an enjoyable beer, even if not as hoppy and aromatic as expected. Note: I think this bottle was a couple months old, so it may have lost some aromatic qualities with time.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2010 I prefer the Sierra Nevada standard Pale Ale, but this is quite good in itself. Definitely very bitter dry finish. Once again Sierra Nevada gets the perfect hop flavor. I will definitely have some more of this, very refreshing.

Picked this up while at the beach in NC. While I have enjoyed other Sierras such as the Pale Ale and Porter, this was my first time for this one and it caught me off guard. Was pleased with the bold hops and maltiness and just the right degree of bitterness for me. Would definitely try this one again.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Dark amber brew with an off white head that slowly thins. Ample lacing left as the glass is drained. Fine aroma of resin and citrus hops. Taste is the classic but fine balance of great maltiness offset by excellent hops bitter. Well balanced flavor that is not lack luster nor over the top. A superior IPA.

Not sure anyone does hops like Sierra Nevada. This now gives them a hop-bomb that I can easily pick up at the grocery store when I canít make it to the liquor store. Excellent hop aroma, the Magnum and Crystal just pound you senses. The taste is actually fairly balanced due to the higher alcohol and the great bittering from the Magnum hops. Great beer that Iíll keep in the fridge for a quick hop fix whenever Iím in need. Not the highest IBU beer out there (or the best IPA), but a great treat for a great price.

Pours a light, somewhat cloudy, amber with a nice white head leaving good lacing. Aroma is a bit bready with some definite floral notes. Taste has definite malt sweetness giving way to a somewhat subdued bitter finish that lingers nicely. A slightly different AIPA, but a more than solid offering from Sierra Nevada.
