COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

HH’s O-FEST TASTING: Herbal, piney hops, juicyfruit, and some malts in the nose. Nice balance of malts and hops. Grapefruit, caramel, and toffee flavors. Alcohol well hidden. I liked it.

Bottle (in NZ). A bright amber with a large airy foam head. Interestingly, the caramal malt dominates the nose, with the piney/citrus hops subdued. There’s no doubting the hops in the pallet, as they charge full steam ahead. Doesn’t have that chalkiness that this level of hopping can come with, just a big and clean bitterness. Doesn’t have the malty flavour I look for in an IPA, but a good example of what you can do with a lot of hops.

Really bitter, or very strong, because there is lot’s of alcohol in this one. I never said I didn’t ask for it.

extremely hoppy with an assertive mouthfeel, but the lack of maltiness weakens the body and makes the drink less pleasurable. Sierra Nevada’s harvest is still my favorite. Bottle at 2nd Annual Treasure Coast Beerfest in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2010 Poured from 12 oz bottle. Nice "assertive" IPA that finally has enough hops for me. Sierra Nevada’s regular IPA is good, but this is a step up in flavor and ABV. *note- re-rated on 5/8/10- slightly downgraded on taste and overall on 2nd tasting. This is still an IPA worth purchasing. *Another re-rating on 12/21/10 and I have to upgrade this damn thing--after downgrading. Taste change, and sometimes the beer does too. Re-rate your beers when you retry them!

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2012 Bottle. Light copper color - clear. Hoppy aroma. Excellent - rich and very hoppy. Hops are also balanced by a decent maltiness.

Pint. Cool but not cold. Fantastic balance. Nice hop bitterness and nose with grapefruit / citrus overtones but balanced with plenty of malt. Not too high in ABV and just an all round great beer. One of my favorites.
