Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a massive 2-inch off-white colored head with great staying power. The color is orange-amber. The aroma is soapy and piney. Strong flavors of resinous hops, caramel, biscuit, subtle banana, and citrus with more piney hops and soapy yeast in the afterbite. Full body and high carbonation. Very satisfying.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2012 A mostly clear, pale amber beer with a fluffy head, aroma is of heavy west coast hops, Simcoe or Cascade, sweet malt, grapefruit, orange. Slightly oily on the palate, with a powerful, robust hoppiness, yet very well balanced. Dry, fruity finish.

Nice dark amber-orange with good head/lacing. Aroma and taste is of barley with hopping. The Hops can actually be tasted and linger in your mouth. Beautiful and well-balanced.

Bottle. Sprucy aroma, as if they’d dry-hopped each bottle individually. Lovely clear copper with a dense off-white head. Massive bitterness but still a backgroundmalty hint. Hopheads must love this. Maybe good to put out the fire with habanero buffalo wings? Body matches well with the hops - neither overwhelms the other. Bitterness lingers faithfully. Carbonation well balanced with the rest of the beer. Seems reasonably clean though it’s hard to call it crisp with such an assault going on.

from Erzbierschof - quite clear reddish-amber in colour and with a little but long lasting foam; nice lacing; a fair flowery hoppiness with notes of caramel and starfruit; a good malt body and a creamy mouthfeel; solidly bitter and with a long flowery and fruity hoppiness with notes of almond - straightforward and balanced

12oz. bottle from Whole Foods in Maui. Pours an orange/gold. Nice and clear with a good amount of carbonation. Also has a nice off-white, foamy head that leaves a decent film on the glass. Aroma is spicy, great bready malt mix with pungent PNW hops. Bold taste, some floral feel to it. Excellent balance. Finishes well and lingers pleasingly. Very good.

12oz. Bottle. Pours amber and somewhat cloudy. Taste/palate is very refreshing...tingles all over with just the right bitterness for an IPA. Hints of fruitty citrus. I thought the aroma was light for an IPA...everything else about this beer is just short of perfect. Great Beer!

12 ounce bottle. I’ve had Torpedo on numerous occasions since it was released last year and it’s quickly become my go-to IPA, probably my favorite commercial example available in my local market. Pours a bright copper with a great sticky head. Heck, I could spend just hours looking at this beer, it’s that pretty. Aroma is pretty all hops. You get booming amounts of pine with some grassy citrus notes. The first sip lets you know you’re in for a hop treat, but the bitterness doesnt’ kill the tongue. Some IPAs are so assertive that they basically strip the enamel from your teeth, but this beer never approaches those levels. Instead it goes the opposite direction. The mouthfeel from this beer is almost oily from all the hops, but it works. There has to be malt there to keep it balanced but I can’t find it. There’s a terrific lingering bitterness in the finish. This beer is really incredible.

Pour is lightly hazed orangey amber with a rocky off white head...smell is grapefruity and slightly resiny...taste is strongly cirtic and piney up front with a nice caramel residual sweetness following up...very well balanced...that lingering bitterness doesn’t really quit at all...finish is slow...nice viscous mouthfeel, but not sticky...effervescence keeps it clean...

Copper-colored and clear-bodied. Nice aroma of hops and some fruitiness. Medium-bodied on the palate with a somewhat thin texture and average carbonation and a bitter finish. Flavor was good. This is what you’d expect from an IPA. I’m not sure I agree with the “Extra” but this is a beer I’d buy again.
