Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

(bottle) clear, medium amber color with tall, light brown head; aroma of hops, spruce; taste of hops, bit unbalanced towards the bitter side, with long medium bitter finish - good IPA but not great by any stretch of imagination - far inferior to IPA offerings from Bells, Stone, or Dogfish Head

A decent, if relatively low-key west-coast IPA. Nice golden-orange appearance. Tastes like Sierra Nevada Pale with a much hoppier kick, and a bit of a better taste. A good IPA overall, and an excellent standard brew from Sierra Nevada.

Honey-Amber with lot’s of nice rising bubbles. off-white head, two fingers. Smells of a flower garden, lemon, lemonade, candy. Taste is similar- well balanced and sweet up front, with a tingling bitterness in the center of the palate that comes and goes in the finish. The sap comes out after a couple more sips. Good stuff!

Bottle thanks to Fred82. Nice copper pour with white head. Aroma is hoppy (piney, herbs and spicy hops, in that order.) with a nice caramel smell too. Taste is quite bitter, a little bit too much so. Good but off balance towards the bitterness.

Pours a translucent amber with minimal white head. Nose is pine and lemon rind, but mostly pine. Flavor matches the nose. Reminds me quite a bit of the Harvest, just not as clean or refreshing. A solid IPA and another very good offering from Sierra Nevada.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2015 Poured from bottle. Malt and hop in aroma. Looks like typical IPA. Pine and grapefruit hop flavors dominate. Finished nicely. Another winner from Sierra Nevada.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2010 Pours cloudy light amber with a light .5" of whispy foam. Aroma is very clean; heavy citrus hops, grapefruit, slightly herbal with a small hit of lemon tea. Taste is very clean with well defined malt and hop flavors with a fairly crisp finish. The Sierra Nevada signature yeast definitely shines by helping to give a very clean flavor profile. The malt is slightly sweet up front and is balanced nicely with the smooth bitterness and clean finish. Very very good, not great.

Bottle into Pint glass. Pours a medium amber with large off white head. Very good lacing. Stong aroma of pine. Medium palate. Very hoppy and bitter. I really like IPA’s but this one was more bitter then I care for. It didn’t seem to have anything to balance out the bitterness. Stong monthfeel, but something seemed to be off. Have read may fine reviews of this, but my experience didn’t live up to expectations. Maybe the bottle was old or just bad. Bought as a single. Will have to seek it out again before judging it too harshly

Bottle into shaker. Nice clear amber pour with a decent white head and medium amount of bubbles. The aroma is resinous/slightly floral and you definitely get a healthy dose of the same type of hops in the flavor. Went great with indian food.

Light amber color with small white head that lingers, decent lacing. Aroma is all hops. Taste is the same, some citrus, a little different than most ipa’s I’ve had. Medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation and a smooth but bitter finish. One of my favorites.
