Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

12oz. Bottle. Pours amber and somewhat cloudy. Taste/palate is very refreshing...tingles all over with just the right bitterness for an IPA. Hints of fruitty citrus. I thought the aroma was light for an IPA...everything else about this beer is just short of perfect. Great Beer!

12 ounce bottle. I’ve had Torpedo on numerous occasions since it was released last year and it’s quickly become my go-to IPA, probably my favorite commercial example available in my local market. Pours a bright copper with a great sticky head. Heck, I could spend just hours looking at this beer, it’s that pretty. Aroma is pretty all hops. You get booming amounts of pine with some grassy citrus notes. The first sip lets you know you’re in for a hop treat, but the bitterness doesnt’ kill the tongue. Some IPAs are so assertive that they basically strip the enamel from your teeth, but this beer never approaches those levels. Instead it goes the opposite direction. The mouthfeel from this beer is almost oily from all the hops, but it works. There has to be malt there to keep it balanced but I can’t find it. There’s a terrific lingering bitterness in the finish. This beer is really incredible.

Pour is lightly hazed orangey amber with a rocky off white head...smell is grapefruity and slightly resiny...taste is strongly cirtic and piney up front with a nice caramel residual sweetness following up...very well balanced...that lingering bitterness doesn’t really quit at all...finish is slow...nice viscous mouthfeel, but not sticky...effervescence keeps it clean...

Copper-colored and clear-bodied. Nice aroma of hops and some fruitiness. Medium-bodied on the palate with a somewhat thin texture and average carbonation and a bitter finish. Flavor was good. This is what you’d expect from an IPA. I’m not sure I agree with the “Extra” but this is a beer I’d buy again.

I find this to be a very delicious IPA. The first thing that struck me when I encountered this beer was the aroma of pine needles on the nose. As with some of my friends, I enjoy IPA’a that are slightly "unbalanced," that is, with a hoppy character that isn’t necessarily balanced out by a rich maltiness. This beer fits that bill perfectly. It has a lovely, medium-bodied texture and hints of citrus and floral notes that compliment the pine. Given its relatively modest alcohol level (7.2%), this makes a good "house" IPA for me.

Bottle, 12oz. A clear, golden beer with a decent off-white head leaving lacings. Moderat aroma for an IPA, but definately nice. Pine cones, citrus peel and some caramel maltyness. Good bitterness in the mouth, full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Green pine cones, citrus peel and some toffee-like maltyness. Lasting bitter finish. A nice one indeed, quenching and flavorful. A beer that I could drink a lot of, very often. 100806

12 oz bottle from New Seasons - Delicious citrus hops aroma. Orange with an off-white head. Tastes really good. Not much to describe other than that it is a very good IPA, and I really like IPAs. Nice job.

I’ve tried soooo many IPA’s it isn’t even funny. The Torpedo is the best straight up IPA in my book. The taste of hops is perfect. 7.2 alcohol, so watch yourself because it is very smooth. This beer deserves the 98 rating it has received. If you want a bold tasting IPA then I recommend the Sierra Nevada Torpedo 100%. Well worth the money without being over priced.
