4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Wonderful beer. Powerful lemony hops with a lingering, but pleasant bitterness. At moments, I wondered if the beer was too malty; but overall, I found it very balanced, but perhaps a tad heavy for a session beer. (Great Divide Titan IPA would be better for that.)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
8/27/09 on draft at Hopunion. Aroma is extremely citrusy with lots of grapefruit and a touch of grass. Appearance is copper-orange with a very well maintained deep cream head. Flavor is earthy but citrus, like an orange rind, with malt sweetness that balances well yet defenitely comes across as a distinctly seperate flavor. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with a medium high carb texture that lingers into a semi-starchy finish. Overall, the balance is lacking to make this easy drinking, but all the components are there.

Bottle. Copper, medium head. Flowery perfume and grapefruity hops in the nose. Good, full mouthfeel, lots of hoppy bitterness in the finish. Up there with the best of them.

An awesome IPA from Sierra Nevada. A hop bomb. Awesome IBU. Smell is something else. I am loving this. Amber colour is stunning. It tricks you into looking innocent yet kicks you in the receptors like an a bomb. Iím astounded by the hops. Wow hope this is consistent. Love this stuff. Consumed on bottle at home. Poured into narrow pint glass but wiill experiment with other bottle into a wider glass for aroma reasons as these hops are stunning.

Bought in HEB in Houston. Very pleasant pine and citrusy on nose and with some malt on the palate. Really well balanced. I was actually surprised at how very drinkable it is. A very good IPA.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A really bold but balanced IPA. The hops arenít just a bitter muddle. The bitterness holds but doesnít sit there wrecking the palate. It encourages another sip. Pours a pretty orange-ish color. Floral bouquet.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Fine looking ale, rich reddish brown with fine lacing. Sharp pine and fresh citrus on the nose, leading to a fine balance of bitterness and sweetness on the tounge. A fine IPA; a clean tasting vibrant hop explosion that doesnít numb the tounge. Bubbling citrus fizz remains on the palate until the next sip. Best IPA Iíve tasted, I think.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2014 Rocky head, mixed bubbles, patchy lace. Nose is mostly pine w/ a bit of sharpness, maybe a bit of a lavender dusty smell. Slightly sweet malts w/ a bit of iced tea like huskiness balanced by resiny bitterness. Mildly citric and right on the edge of being harsh or soapy but instead just bracing. Medium bodied, not sticky or oily, with firm carbonation that suits the style. I prefer either the seasonal Celebration ale to this but this is a decent IPA.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Good looking beer with deep reddish color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. Solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish. A good sixer to drink in the summer.

First off, iím biased, I love Sierra Nevada and everythibg they do and what they have done, they are consistant and solid.
The beer pours a clean deep amber, strong citrusy pine notes. Taste is a very balanced strong hops with a sweet malt finish. This beer is what most IPAís try to be, and Sierra does it everyday, a consistant clean IPA that highlights the hops, but balances out the finish with the malts, making this a very drinkable tasty brew. It seems that everybody out here is doing an IPA, what sets these guys apart is that from bottle 1 to bottle 1000, they taste the same, and all good, not hit or miss like the 22oz. pretty label IPAís that are stuffing the shelves.
