COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

12oz fresh bottle from Winooski btl date April 8th 2010
Appearance : Clear amber with big foamy and creamy head. Extensive lacing.
Aroma : Leafy and resinous hops. Notes of passion fruits. Some malt with light notes of caramel.
Taste : Carbonation is surprisingly thin but still enjoyable. Taste is rather sweet with lots of hops. Hops are leafy and sharp. Resinous with some passion fruits. Finish is sharp leafy and dry. Quite bitter with sweet notes of caramel. Finish is warm and and bit peppery
Overall : Nose is awesome. I like that sharp leafy hop profile along the passion fruit notes. Very good beer. Taste is also very nice perhaps a bit too sweet compared to what I like in this type of IPA. Alcohol could also be better hidden. Rather easy drinking. Awesome beer.

350 ml bottle. Hazy light copper colour. Tall off-white thick creamy head that clings to the glass. Bold and rich apricoty hops aroma with grassy notes. Crisp malty flavours. Fairly high carbonation makes this a lively beer, but that works really well. Nice hoppy bite that balances the rich sweet malt. Excellent beer that is very drinkable even though the alcohol is relatively high.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a light amber, with big off-white head. Aroma is piney and herbal. Taste is floral herbal hops and some bitterness. I prefer this to Sierra Nevada pale ale, but Victory Hop Devil my be slightly better.

Bottle and tap. A very decent IPA. Exceptionally drinkable and well-balanced. Mildly fruity hop aroma. Flavor has some sweetness, just enough to match the grapefruit and earthy hop presence. Medium body, average carbonation. A great IPA for sessioning.

(Old BA rating - growler & bottle) Nice amber(y) color, that is slighter darker than the Pale Ale Sierra Nevada does. Lacing and head retention were really great. Malt cuts through the expected hop aroma that I normally associate with an IPA from the U.S. Was not overly impressed with the aroma, but still pleasant. Lots of West Coast hoppines, little resiny, great stuff, but had a strong bit of help from the malt . The sampling that I had didn’t have as much carbonation as I would have like in this style. Pretty good drinkability, and really love the hops. Would have to clean your palate big time before having anything else.

DietPepsican (1578) - @ $13.99, Iowa, USA - APR 26, 2010
UPDATED: JUN 18, 2010 Dark amber pour with a good sized off white head. Soap, pine tar, rotten malt aroma. Flavor followed through with the rotten malt really shining. Some pine tar hoppiness tries to show through, but it doesn’t really have a chance. Caramel, bread, and sewer round his one out. Finishes astringently bitter (sigh), good carbonation. This was so bad we sent it back to sierra for evaluation. It’s gotten steadily worse since release. Garbage.
