Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Slightly unclear, amber colour with a thick off-white foamy head. Fruit-accented and spicy, slightly piney hoppy aroma with a slightly bready (cara-)malty touch. Bitter and slightly sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a slightly crispy carbonation. Cara-malty and fruity and spicy hoppy taste with an almost dry and moderately bitter finish torpedo-ed by notes of alcohol. Compared with the parallelly sampled Anniversary Ale this one is less rounded. One more example that the stronger brew is not necessarily the better one. 20.II.10

Hoppy. Mmmmmm. Sweet and juicy hoppiness thatís grapefruit, piney and grassy. But I like it. Usually I donít liek the hops that are more grassy related but iíve come around to liking pine, and these are very green-flavored hops, but the beer has an extremely balanced, sweet flavor to it so you get the dry bitterness in the mouth and on the swallow, but in the finish is cools down to a more sweet wet finish. Very good IPA.

This is one of my favorite beers... period. It is complex and hoppy but manages to pull it off in a way that makes it incredibly approachable to the mass drinker. So easy to drink you need to be careful as itís not a session beer. Like to keep at least a few bottles of the Torp in the fridge at all times. This beer cemented my undying respect and loyalty for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

Aroma is orange with some fine malt, orange, pours a large custard head, leaves lace until itís finished. Taste is a pronounced orange kick, backed up by some very good malt. Medium bodied, very well balanced, juicy, resiny, extra bitter(yumm) quite a mouthfeel due to the hops. Wow this an Extra IPA!

floral, grass aroma. Golden / Amber color, clear with full, frothy head. Medium bitterness, not as much as I expected. Average carbonation, with a slightly bitter finish. Medium body. Overall a good IPA.

Bottled 355ml. Bottle from www.bierzwerg.de. It pours an amber beer with a decent head. Vanilla, sweat, quince and wonderful Cascade hops throughout. Mindblowingly pleasant. A top notch IPA.

pale, very bitter, light sweetness, lively,. Sierra Nevada turned me away from MGD and on to craft beer in the 90ís so I have a soft spot for them. Unfortunately, this beer tastes like extra hoppy Budweiser. Not balanced with an unpleasant aftertaste. I love IPAís and double IPA in general but this one is overated. . Great marketing job by Sierra Nevada however.

Pours a nice amber with a good, light off-white head that lasts and leaves some good lacing and good carbonation. The nose is big, fresh, spicy, piney, citrus American hops supported by a nice bready malt backbone. Taste leads with a good fresh bitterness that lasts all the way through, balanced by a light, sweet malt character and a solid piney hop kick on the swallow. This is an excellent beer, but not one that I could drink all night.
