4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 15, 2009 In short: A very bitter, very refreshing and very nourishing session IPA. Excellent.
How: Bottles (many), 2009 vintage, consumed very fresh a few weeks after its release.
The look: Clear golden body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Well malted body with plenty of cereals and cookies and limited sweet flavours sensation (not much caramel, honey, etc.). Pillowy round body with a pleasant active carbonation. A whole lotta hops. The finish blends harsh resinous bitterness and refreshing orange flavours, a few pine-cone needles thrown here and there and a little spicy edge. The finish is long and the bitterness intensity is in the medium-high range. I honestly thought this was a 5% brew when I entered this rating. Highly drinkable to say the least. An excellent California beer named after the device that the Hollywood movie industry used to sink the Titanic. A great cover-up job and a fantastic return on the investment.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a fairly nice IPA. Aroma is pine, sweet fruits, an herbal earthiness. Flavor is a good balance between sweetness and strong bitterness. Itís like they are fighting each other though, they just donít seem to blend. Most of the time, thereís a lingering sweetness after the mostly dry piney finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured with a large, off-white head that exhibited good lacing. Copper-colored and clear-bodied. Very nice aroma of average hops and some nice fruitiness. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a mostly-thin texture and average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Flavor was quite hoppy... long duration with a very bitter, dry finish to it. Wow... a very impressive IPA that, with some other recent entries, is helping me open up to the world of hops.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours an almost clear pale amber with a dense off-white head. Intense hop aroma of pine and citrus. Medium body, sweetish caramel and fruit with a spicy, hoppy - yet smooth - finish. 060709

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Metallic, spicy, somewhat herbal hop aroma that is rather aggressive. Not too malty or sweet, though. Transparent copper body with a medium white head that is long-lasting with nice lacing present. Spicy, hoppy, piney, and peppery. Finishes a bit herbal and bitter. Not too much in the way of hops or balance. Straight forward, but decent.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 20, 2009 Bottle. Golden body with a white head. The aroma and flavors are average catty hops. Not a big fan of this. Itís like an APA but uses crappy hops. The palate was bitter and average. I donít understand why people like this one. 6, 3, 5, 3, 11 = 2.8.
Tap. This was sampled at Romans Pub from the ONLY keg to have ever left Sierra Nevadaís premises. The beer pours to a copper body with a thin white head. Awesome lacing up front. The aroma has a subtle bitter grapefruit. The flavor is about the same as the Extra Special Pale, but has a sharper hoppiness/bitterness. The palate is bitter and oily. Not as balanced as the ESP, but still very good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Awesome golden amber pour, with a pillowy head that stays for awhile. Good lacing on glass. Aroma is simple citrus, flowers and pine. Taste is precise with the right balance of hop bitterness and sweetness. Very clean and well done IPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2010 My Bottom Line:
This India Pale Aleís enduring resinous and earthy bitterness tends to overshadow its citrusy subtleties and biscuity malt crunch, creating an imbalanced yet engaging hop-happy quencher.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A tower of foam laces atop the translucent orangey amber.
-This could be more aromatic for the style.
-Carbonation is rather effervescent, increasing drinkability.
-The hop signature in the aroma and finish is also quite spicy and grassy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A really solid, cheap IPA. A bit too workmanlike and not overly hoppy, but enjoyable. Nose was of citrus and pine. Flavour of grass and pine, not too grapefruity. Rather subdued. Mild bitter finish. Very smooth. Easy summer drinking.
