4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear orange body with a nicely frothy beige head that showed great retention and left beautiful heavy lacing. Big grapefruity hop nose with minimal interference from the malt. This just smells so fresh and juicy. The flavor shows lots of hoppiness with a very restrained bitterness level. Fresh and bright tasting with tangerine and grapefruit. Plenty of caramel and toasty malt, but it’s really just an accent to the great hops. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Some slight resiny stickiness on the long lingering finish. Another quality offering from Sierra Nevada, these guys ARE IPA.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours an orange-y amber color and crystal clear. Smell is sweet for an IPA, not a lot of the heavenly floral scents like you get with other West Coast IPAs (though this one has been sitting around a while so most of the more potent aromas have dissipated). Bitterness is appropriate. Tastes solid and earthy (grassy?) and finishes dry, leaving a kind of grapefruit-like aftertaste. This is an IPA done well.

12oz bottle from Rollin’ Oats (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark orange amber color with a one finger creamy off-white head that settles slowly. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of citrus, pine, grapefruit, flowery hops, light notes of caramel and malt. Flavor is sweet and floral with notes of grass, pine, citrus, grapefruit, floral hops, caramel and malt. Generally medium body with a pleasing floral hop finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice copper color nice hop aromas and malt sweetness. Tastes nice and sweet with a good hop bite for balance. Hop flavors are grassy and some citrus. This is a solid brew that hits the the IPA mark on the head. One comment , I prefer the more citrus and floral hops from the western USA. This beer seems to have been crafted from more traditional English hop varieties.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz. Bottle: Coppery orange w/ a small off-white head. Aroma full of piney/citrusy hops & that’s pretty much it. Just a hint of sweet malt before bitter hops launch their attack, to the point of making my mouth water. Rather one dimensional, don’t care for the metallic aftertaste. Hops, hops away...

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Crisp bright orange coloured body with a dense frothy, microfoamed tan head - this is exactly what an IPA should look like! Aroma of potent hops, pine, citrus, alcohol, caramel and a bit of metal - very nice! Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and piney hops in the taste with some grapefruit, malt and alcohol in the finish - not as strong as I had expected! Aftertaste shows some potent hops, but not a bittering experience at all - more sugars and balance comes out of this! Overall, a good but actually slightly underhopped beer in my mind! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington DC on 07-March-2009, sampled at home on 17-May-2009.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Opening the bottle released a strong pine aroma, very promising. The pour is orange hued with a smaller yellowish head. Upon further inhaling the aroma, I find the expected citrusy character that is expected. The beer is highly carbonated, which is never a plus for me. The the bitter starts bold, then mellows into the nice hop flavor that the aroma promised. The finish is longer and a touch sloppy. Pretty enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Expecting more from Sierra, but still a nice IPA. Lots of bittering hops but would have liked some more aromatics to balance it out, esp if we’re gonna call this one "extra".
