COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

Ummmmm......... no! Decent beer, but over rated on this site. Had a good many and I can say that this is above average at best. Very solid beer, but 3.8 is a little high for me. I prefer the Pale Ale more than this one. Good solid beer describes it best. Nothing wrong, nothing that makes it stand out.

Thanks to ghawener. Good, solid beer....Well balanced, pours amber/gold. If you are a hop lover this is just what the doctor ordered.

Reddish amber beer with a big, but quickly dicipating off-white head. This a beautiful looking beer. Aroma is, as expected, floral and piney, with big cascade hop notes and not much else. First sip is a bit too hoppy, which sounds like an odd thing to say for an extra IPA, but it was a bit decimating on the palate. The next few sips were a bit mellower, probably due to the beer warming up a bit. Bitter all the way through, not enough malt to balance it out.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear orange body with a nicely frothy beige head that showed great retention and left beautiful heavy lacing. Big grapefruity hop nose with minimal interference from the malt. This just smells so fresh and juicy. The flavor shows lots of hoppiness with a very restrained bitterness level. Fresh and bright tasting with tangerine and grapefruit. Plenty of caramel and toasty malt, but itís really just an accent to the great hops. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Some slight resiny stickiness on the long lingering finish. Another quality offering from Sierra Nevada, these guys ARE IPA.

Pours an orange-y amber color and crystal clear. Smell is sweet for an IPA, not a lot of the heavenly floral scents like you get with other West Coast IPAs (though this one has been sitting around a while so most of the more potent aromas have dissipated). Bitterness is appropriate. Tastes solid and earthy (grassy?) and finishes dry, leaving a kind of grapefruit-like aftertaste. This is an IPA done well.

12oz bottle from Rolliní Oats (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark orange amber color with a one finger creamy off-white head that settles slowly. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of citrus, pine, grapefruit, flowery hops, light notes of caramel and malt. Flavor is sweet and floral with notes of grass, pine, citrus, grapefruit, floral hops, caramel and malt. Generally medium body with a pleasing floral hop finish.

Pours a nice copper color nice hop aromas and malt sweetness. Tastes nice and sweet with a good hop bite for balance. Hop flavors are grassy and some citrus. This is a solid brew that hits the the IPA mark on the head. One comment , I prefer the more citrus and floral hops from the western USA. This beer seems to have been crafted from more traditional English hop varieties.

12oz. Bottle: Coppery orange w/ a small off-white head. Aroma full of piney/citrusy hops & thatís pretty much it. Just a hint of sweet malt before bitter hops launch their attack, to the point of making my mouth water. Rather one dimensional, donít care for the metallic aftertaste. Hops, hops away...

A bottle shared at HBF 2009. Pale head. Bright coppery colour. Mild flowery hoppy nose. Tasty hoppiness. Some grapefruit aromas.

Crisp bright orange coloured body with a dense frothy, microfoamed tan head - this is exactly what an IPA should look like! Aroma of potent hops, pine, citrus, alcohol, caramel and a bit of metal - very nice! Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and piney hops in the taste with some grapefruit, malt and alcohol in the finish - not as strong as I had expected! Aftertaste shows some potent hops, but not a bittering experience at all - more sugars and balance comes out of this! Overall, a good but actually slightly underhopped beer in my mind! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington DC on 07-March-2009, sampled at home on 17-May-2009.
