Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

Aroma: not only fresh, but fresh and green, I can close my eyes and picture a hopper full of hops pellets, wonderful, especially for hops lovers; Appearance: very good blend of orange and brown, looks very natural; Taste: a very superior IPA, huge mouthfuls of hops flavor with a perfect bitter bite, I ate a hops pellet once, and this is a liquid distillation of that experience but with a masterful way of making you want to come back again and again for another swig; Palate: very "full" mouthfeel, but only in the mouth, not in the stomach, if you love IPAs, you could drink more than one at a sitting without the hops becoming overbearing; Overall: one of my favorite IPAs, and Iíve had quite a few (although I am new to the site so I havenít rated very many yet), certainly one of the freshest, greenest IPAs out there, go Sierra Nevada

35cl bottle. Poured a clear, ruddy copper with a mostly lasting and easily regenerative rocky two finger off-white head, leaving some bubbles & thickness on the sides of the glass. Lime, pine, grapefruit hops and caramel/toffee malt aromas. Grapefruit & pine bitter hop flavours with a lovely strawberry, peachy sweetness in the back. The finish isnít too lingering or harsh, nicely rounded with just a bit of clinging peppery bite. Some brightness from the carbonation keeps the mouthfeel fresh on a medium body.

Pours a darkish red with a big head, left lots a lots of lace on the glass. Aroma is very hop forward with some citrus notes as well as some grassy and earthy notes. Drinks smooth although it does have an emphatic bitterness from the get go. It finishes dry with a nice hoppy flavor that goes til the end.

Had this one right after drinking Samuel Adams Latitude 48 and found this one to be easier drinking... Not at all saying Latitue 48 is bad, its actually a very good beer... but this one wasnít as sweet and to me made it easier to drink... very good beer.

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2010 OK, Iím a rookie and Iíve tried only two IPAs: Dogfish Head 60 Minute and Sierra Nevada Torpedo. After drinking this at least I can pick out the hop flavors when I try other beers. IPAs are supposed to be bitter and that it is; but aside from bitter I though the Sierra Nevada was more carbonated had stronger flavors of pine, cedar, and citrus. I liked it better. If youíre into IPAs then I would suggest trying it. However, this style is not for me.

Aroma: grass / citrus / grain. Clear medium gold-copper with decent head and retention, good lacing. Good olí IPA strong hops character well-balanced with light caramel malt. Frothy, medium-light mouthfeel. Bitter, dry finish. Pretty good.

Another Sierra Nevada staple of mine. Dry, hoppy, tasty and relatively cheap. What a great brewery!

Bottle. Pours beautiful amber. Head is quite hard and creamy. Lotīs of lacing on the glass. Aroma is fantastic from apricot, hops, toffee, grass, candy and some nuts. Flavor is also fantastic. Apricot hops, marmalade, nuts and grass. Palate is smooth and quite easy. Aftertaste is medium long. Little bitter and sweet.
