COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

12oz bottle. Pours translucent golden amber with an off-white foamy head and a nice pine and citrus aroma. Flavor of herbal hops with an oily resin character. Balanced hop profile, without much malt backing. A bargain for the price.

[Bottle] Pours crystal clear amber with a quickly dissipating off white head. Aroma is primarily pine resin and some citrus. The flavor is piney and citrusy hops, plenty of rough bitterness, and just a touch of malt. No sweetness to speak of, and a pretty dry finish. This is a great IPA for the money.

12oz bottle, from Caponeís (Norristown, PA). Pours clear amber, capped with a fairly big off-white head. Intense citric hop aroma, with some crystal malt in the background. Huge, intense, citric and earthy hops hit the palate first, and are joined by some malt to provide a little counterbalance. Grapefruity hops linger on the palate. Itís not exactly my cup of tea, but this is a really well crafted hop bomb.

12 oz bottle. Poured this into my favorite tulip glass. Aggressive pour created a massive, lasting foam head - 3 fingers. Had to chomp through the head to get to the beer. Nice sticky lacing. Color is deep amber that screams flavor. Nose is 100% IPA. Hops are massive in the nose. Flavor is quiet malt on the tip of the tounge. Sweet pancakes with butter, followed by a freight train of hops that blast the finish with bitters and flowers. Mouthfeel is full and clean. Overall, each sip begs the next sip. Nicely done by the beer gods at Sierra Nevada.

Single bottle purchased at Friendly Mini Mart in Lakewood. This is one seriously satisfying IPA. It is not quite to the level of ridiculously hoppy, but it is close. The aroma is a nice citrus and floral one with some medium caramel malt hiding behind it. The flavor is buttery bitter and ends sharp and clean. It doesnít ruin the palate after each sip, it just finishes sharply.

12 oz bottle. Although Iíve now I had this one a couple of times since its conception, it still makes me pretty happy that SN decided to make a year íround ipa. Iím also glad that this one is quite a bit different from their other offerings in terms of hop variety. Sadly, i donít think this is one of their best. That said its still a solid beer a good example of full bodied ipa overall. With the aroma, the notes are concentrated with hops of a highly herbal variety, and some pine and citrus. Other aroma notes of melon fruit, pale malt, and minor nutty caramel. The pour was quite nice, with a good layer of silky white head, good lacing as the beer goes down, medium bodied appearance, some pulpy particulate, and a darker shade of burnt orange in color. The initial aspect of the flavor is quite nice and promising, with a nice blend of fruits (citrus orange, darker berries, and melon) coming together well. However, this flavor kind of blends into a mess. The herbal hops come on strong, maybe too strong, along with the caramel spice and the pale malts, and bread loaf, and this is on top of the initial players that still exist. The finish becomes a very sticky and chewy jumble, with a very herbal bitter linger. I wouldnít say its out of balance, but just that the combination of ingredients does not to work perfectly together. Still, I actually did really enjoy this beer, but as mentioned before, it just wasnít one of my favorites from Sierra Nevada.

Incredibly one note taste and smell. All the bitterness of hops, with none of the citrus or floral aromas. A huge let down, as I thought this would be a great everyday beer. Drinkable certainly, but embarrasingly bad compared to Celebration or even SNPA.

Bottle pours a clear copper/amber color with a big, foamy, beige head. Excellent webbed lacing along the side of the glass. Strong aroma of piney hops and citrus with notes of biscuity malts. Very bitter, hoppy flavor on the front end, followed by a fair amount of maltiness and ending with more hop bitterness. Nice, long lasting aftertaste. Thick and chewy mouthfeel. Very nice!

Aroma- Moderate piney hop aroma, it seems fairly subdued, yet fresh. Grassy. Appearance- Brilliant clarity, orange-ish copper color. Thick, light-tan head with lots of lacing. Flavor- Hop flavor dominates, it is piney and grapefruit like. There is a little sourness from the hops. It has medium resin flavors and itís citrusy. The malt flavor is in the background and delicate, with some biscuit like flavors. This is the hop show though. Mouthfeel- Very dry, from the hops and from the final gravity. Medium carbonation and surprisingly light in body. Overall Impression- At the high end of the style, numbers wise, this beer is a great IPA. The hops and alcohol make it pretty dry, but itís nice and easy to drink.
