COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

Bottle from Binny’s in Orland Park, IL: It poured a clear, light amber body with a modest head that soon reduced to a film with nary a sight of lace left behind. The nose is full of fresh citrus scents, pine, and grasses - all covering some sweet grainy malts. Plenty of hop flavor here, all reflective of the nose, supported by a backbone of grainy malt sweetness. The hoppy bitterness comes out mainly near the end and never reaches the intensity that I’d anticipated. The finish is dry and mildly bitter. Not bad, but... DIPA?

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2010 Pours a clear glowing reddish amber with a large sudsy white head that fades into only lacing. Aroma of wet grains, glassy toasted biscuity crystal malts, and light pine. Flavor is sweet toffee and floral hops, touch of honey with a salty biscuity malty finish. Smooth glassy medium mouthful, soft larger carbonation, very subtle, lightly sticky. [after trying next to Celebration they do seem similar, straight SNPA is prolly my fav of the bunch]

Bottle pours clear amber with a two inch head and substantial lace. The aroma is full on fresh hops. The flavor is very nicely balanced between sweetness underneath and hops, producing a citrus and pine sensation. The palate is hefty enough to carry the bold flavors well. Overall, this is a winner in my book.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2009 Intense herbal hop flavor and after-taste. I couldn’t pick up citrus flavor mentioned on label and abundant in Two Hearted. Medium body, and tangy aroma. Excellent IPA.

Sometimes the definition of an IPA and DIPA get blurred.....it does with this brew, I think. Floral aroma with a brown color seldom seen in a single IPA. Definitely a higher alcohol content than most IPA’s...one of them gave me a slight buzz. That being said it was chock full of hop goodness. This leaves the flagship Sierra Nevad PA in the dust. But, this isn’t the only craft brewer that has mediocre flagship brews and truly great special or seasonal offerings.

Very deep color for IPA. Stay with me. Great hoppy flavor. THe head sticks in the glass. It’s beautiful.

Tallahassee, Fl - Liquor Loft - 12 oz bottle. Pours a medium dark copper with a creamy white head that leaves a bit of lacing. Pungent aroma of spruce and flowers, very fresh with hoppy goodness. Flavor is full-bodied and rich with bold citrus notes that do not bite but rather melt in your mouth. Very well balanced with some maple syrup notes and a hint of caramel to balance out the hoppiness. Mouthfeel is thick and rich. Sierra Nevada delivers once again.

Aroma - Storng citrus hop aromas upfront with light malt sweetness. Some caramel/crystal malts come through as the beer warms. No noticable fermentation aromas to speak of, mailnly hops with some malt sweetness. Appearance - cristal clear with a light head, both in color and texture, that laces on the way down the glass. SRM around 14 deep golden with light orange tints . Flavor - Citrus, grapefruit notes from hops. Bitterness is faily balances with the maltiness in this beer. Not overly bitter, the hops comethrough in the flavor of this beer. No esters to speak of, very clean. Light maltiness backs up the bitterness that finishes on the back of this beer. Meduim mouthfeel/body on the tounge, meduim carbonation, no real astringency but what is there is from the hops. Overall a very nice beer, those that want a massive hop bitterness will be dissapointed in this beer as it does not deliver on that front, but is very balances and very drinkable.

Pours a slightly hazy amber gold with a small off-white head. Great sweet honey aroma. Lots of floral, herbal, and piney hop smells. Very sweet honey malt flavor up-front, but totally dominated by the bitter, grassy, pine hop finish. Very delicious although hop heavy. It lingers with a grassy, dry flavor. Very distinct California IPA character.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2011 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark orange-amber color with a large orange-white head. The aroma was strong grapefruit, pine and floral hops. The flavor was sweet and malty yet had a strong fruity and floral hop presence. The middle was sweetish and malty with the fruity hops reasserting themselves on the medium length finish. Moderately thick. Extremely well balanced. Well done.
