COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

Pours a clear dark gold, big rocky head that settles down into some nicely clinging lacing. Aroma is very hoppy, lots of citrus with a little pine. Lighter mouthfeel than I was expecting, not stick at all. Bitter aftertaste...a deadly session beer.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2009 Pours a clear light amber with a smallish head and no lacing. The aroma is medium sweet with citrus, pine, grassy and sweet grainy malt. The flavor is heavy piney fruity bitterness and caramel sweet malt. Medium bodied, oily mouthfeel. The finish is dry and more bitter than initially. I had high hopes for this one based on what I had read but it doesn’t live up to the hype.

bitbucket (2159) - Kirkland, Washington, USA - MAR 7, 2009
Bottle. Pours clear copper with a dense and persistent pale straw head. A bit of pine and toffee; a moderate amount of fruit and wood; and lots of herbs and earth in the nose and taste. Dry finish with lingering bitterness. Not the part of IPA spectrum I’m tuned into, but well made none the less. Tastes like they might have been dry-hopping it yesterday.

moelikebeer (221) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - MAR 7, 2009
Bottle. Clear, light, golden-amber pour with minimal head. Light hop aroma; somewhat piney and citrusy. More hops in the flavor. A nice bitterness that truly is well balanced by the malt. However, I don’t get the "over-the-top" or "massive" hops. But, to be fair, I preceded this with a Surly Furious so that may have been a factor.

nose of fresh cut foliage and light pine. appearance is clear copper. flavor is very assertive, quite bitter and backed up by a nice ABV. very substantial. palate is indeed quite dry, flavors drop off a cliff but bitterness lingers a bit. too many IPAs are sessionable but weak, this is the perfect median between those and the heavy duty IIPAs. very intelligent brew.

Clear and honey colored with a cm of dense white head. Aroma is strong piney hops, which transition very smoothly into the taste. Sweet, malty, and firmly hopped all at once, but well balanced to the point of being unnaturally smooth. Some notes make me think of a candied lemon. $2.50/12oz

Aroma and appearance are all that this “beer?” has going for it. It is in fact not really beer. It’s boiled hop water. I like cascade hops but my god, lets be reasonable. There may be alcohol in it but it might as well be from fermented corn sugar. The hops are so over powering no one would notice. Proof that if you put enough hops in sewer water, someone will drink it AND it will be popular in the Northwest.

BOLTZ7555 (2823) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 6, 2009
Nice pine-forward aroma with lemongrass and caramel evident. Beautiful crystal clear copper body with hints of tangerine toward the beer’s center. Ample carbonation results in a fluffy ivory head that left rings inside the glass. Flavor is ruby red grapefruit flesh, lemon zest, and a touch of honey. Bitter finish that lingers on the palate long after the last sip. Not bad.

In bottle, heavy copper on the pour, a very solid offering. Big NW hop profile throughout with all citrus and little to no bitterness. Achieves that delicate balance between weighty and immensely drinkable.
