Some toffee with pine coming through. Flavours are hoppy, floral and fresh. Green peppery and bitter pine with plenty of lemon and peach fruitiness. Sweet grapefruit with associated bitterness towards the finish. Strong marmalade notes. Quite viscous on the palate. Sweet, hoppy and very good. RichardGretton (3166), Leicestershire, England

Dark bronze beer with a lightly hopped aroma and a slightly vinous and quite deeply hopped, bitter and lightly malty flavour. Overall an average IPA. alagnak (386), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 5, 2009 Nose is grassy, vinous hops and a bit of apple cider acidity. Flavor is really solidly balanced: rose hip, and more of the bitter apple that moves into the standard IPA grapefruit bitterness on the roof of the mouth. FInishes crisp and clean. Really well done and highly quaffable. SN continues to impress. otismulligan (34), Yardley, Pennsylvania, USA

The color is orange/gold. Nice and clear with a good amount of carbonation. Also has a nice off-white, foamy head that leaves a nice film on the glass.
The smell is spicy. Bold hop flavor and some floral feel to it.
The taste is a bit strong. It takes a minuet to get used to the nice hoppy flavor and great spicy flavor. Also has a nice sweet malt flavor.
Torpedo is well balanced between a nice better hop feel and a spicy/sweet malt feel. Goes down well with a aftertaste that only lasts through the first few sips. It really is a beer rollercoaster

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 4, 2009 Aug. 4, 2009; 12 oz. bottle. Sierra Nevada brews consistently-excellent beers, and they’ve knocked it out of the park with this one. As an IPA, it tops the very good, but slightly unbalanced & harsh, "Celebration Ale" they’ve brought out seasonally. Perfectly-balanced -- i.e., not over-the-top "hoppy" -- with a long, pleasingly-bitter palate that’s equal parts hops & alcohol. As a big fan of the brewery & the style, it’s difficult to imagine how this could be topped.
