Torpedo is an assertive American IPA deep reddish-gold in color, with a smooth and bready malt presence and over-the-top hop aromas. The beer has a solid bitterness and a massive hop flavor, yet remains easy drinking with a pleasant dry finish.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2011 Bottle. Poured a reddish-orange that was a bit hazy with a medium sized off white rocky head that had very nice retention which allowed for some fair lacing. The aroma had a heavy dose of hops, a light grain malt and a horse blanket yeast scent with a nice citrus note that stood out rather well. It tasted moderately bitter of hops in the beginning and finished with a nice pronounced malty-bitter flavor that had a nice hint of citrus at the end, with the flavor only lasting a short time. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and watery yet dry in texture with a very nice carbonation. Overall a very nice IPA that had a well balanced hop-citrus flavor working for it. I have to say I kind of enjoyed this one and I am not even a hop lover.

This is a fine looking amber ale with a big foamy head. Aroma is fruity and floral, like apricots and honeysuckle. The flavor is a sharp contrast from the soft pleasant aroma, sharply and mouth-puckeringly bitter and astringent. On the whole, it works well together, and is yet another surprisingly good offering from Sierra Nevada.

355ml Bottle into a glass. A champion Imperial Pale Ale. Textbook Citra hops attitude and mellow caramel malts on the nose. Honey golden color with a tenacious head. Bitter, fizzy and velvety up front. Honey fruit flavors followed by light malt foundation rally to a Citra-hop finish. A definitive IPA, good body and flavor balance, great for those who want a stronger flavor. Fantastic for hop lovers.

This one is a classic. As far as widely distributed extra IPAs go, torpedo is a top notch brew, to be sure.

Copper in color with thick white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass aromas of pine grapefruit and caramel hoppy flavor that is not overwhelming and perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness and citrus an all around great ipa from a great brewery ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer has a nice hop aroma but doesn't overpower. The beer is slightly cloudy with a nice head which clings to the outside of the glass. This beer tastes amazing it's bitter and sweet at the same time and leaves your pallet ready for more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From bottle. Deep amber golden color. Aroma is caramel, pine, and tropical citrus. Taste is sweet orange, guava, grapefruit, pine, caramel. Quite hop assertive, but the caramel malt really balances the bitterness well.

Bottle. Pours dark gold with a huge long lasting foam head. Very mild hops that slightly builds with most of the hop flavor in your month long after swallowing. A deep breath in through the nose brings more hops. Very powerful and tasty.
