Flavor is mostly bready malts with supporting floral hops, toffee, dark fruit esters, and light woody notes; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

(11/2012) bottle. Dark lager. Nice malty, hoppy, chocolately feeling. More hoppy than most dark lagers. In bitgerness at least. Ok. Nice even. Would buy it again, if it were available.

Clearance bottle at Famous Liquors. Yes, likely out of date, and the resaon for some oxidation under the cap. But also some sharp prickly hop smell as well. Pours a clean, ruddy brown color with a big head of foam. Has the familiar earthy nuttiness to the Goose Hex Nut and similar beers. A bit more roast to it, maybe even some smoke, slides toward the Porter end. Hearty and filling.

Pours brown color with a medium head. Aroma of hops, dark fruits, caramel malts, toffee and mild nutty notes. Flavor is pretty much the same. A bit too sweet though.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours a clear reddish brown with a nice brown off white head. Aroma is of roasted malts and some caramel. This is a very tasty beer (IMHO) balanced, sweet, bready some hints of hops, goes down very easy, very enjoyable.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 WheatKing (703) - Oak Bay, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 29, 2013
Pours dark amber/brown with a lasting head. Taste is caramel, a bit of bread, some fruit in the aroma, grainy consistency. Browns need more biscuit or nut or something out of the ordinary for me to rate them higher than this, but it was a very well-made standard beer that I think would be excellent fresh on tap.

Draught at Bierhaus. Pours a clear ruby brown with a thin white lacing. Nose is really off, smells very musty like the inside of an old wardrobe, with a light (probably intended) fruity and hay overtone. Taste is a big improvement, with a medium sweetness followed by a tart finish - hints of bread, citrus and fig on the palate. Dry finish with a medium carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, poor as far as Sierra Nevada goes, and very disappointing.
