COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sierra Nevada uses malt within days of roasting at the peak of its flavor to give Tumbler a gracefully smooth malt character. Two-row pale, crystal 40, chocolate and smoked malts give it a malty complexity. Challenger hops in the boil add balancing bitterness, while more Challengers and some Goldings give just enough hop flavor in the finish to balance all that malt.

im leery of most of sierra nevadaís products as im not a hophead, but this one was very well done. aroma is a little nutty, pours with a thick head and big effervescent bubbles. flavor is smooth maltiness without being cloying or sweet, with a nice balanced nuttiness and darker grains. very well done.

Bottle from SL. The pour was amber to brown, off-white colored head. The aroma was caramel, chocolate and roast. The flavor followed, ashy and smoky roast factor fairly prominent, finishing with an assertive hop presence. Body was moderate to full for a brown ale, although it did have a dry element from the hops and carbonation that kept it fairly drinkable.

Bottle. Frothy, tan head, slowly diminishing. Brown body. Pleasant and surprisingly forward aroma of roasted malts, smoke, chocolate, a little char and floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Crisp, clean finish. Easy to drink and much more interesting and drinkable than 95% of the brown ales Iíve tried. The only off-putting characteristic was a slight perfumey taste from the floral hops, a flavor that didnít mesh with the almost stout-like roastiness. Otherwise, an OK. pleasant beer.

Pours a clear dark amber body with a strong beige head. Nutty malt flavors, some toffee and a very dry coffee finish. Pretty good stuff.

Pour is a nice dark amber with a creamy white head. Aroma is malty with notes of toasted biscuit, nut, caramel, and roasted malt. Flavor is malty with roasted malt and biscuit, followed by a hint of caramel. Hops are present, but not overwhelming. Overall a great brown for any Fall day.

Pours an attractive dark with a pale soapy head. The aroma is nutty and chocolate with a sense of alcohol. A nice nutty flavor accompanies some slight bitter hops. The finish is a touch dry.

Poured a solid brown with a medium head that quickly faded to lace. Aroma was of slightly sweet malts and hops. Taste was similar with hops pervading throughout. Mouth feel was decent but nothing spectacular. Overall, this was decent, but like other brews from Sierra, the hops totally dominate. Itís kind of like, Iíll take a little malt with my hops.

Big old 24oz bottle pours clear amber with ruby hues and tan head. The aroma is a pleasing even mix of roasted malts, sweet malts and sweet nuttiness. Nice. The taste is similar with roasted malts and sweet malts running along side a firm note of nuttiness and a sense of burnt malts. I also get a mild level of pine hops off in the background. Darn tasty Brown.

If you can take autumn and bottle it up, I think it would taste like this beer.
