3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear brown with 3 finger off-white head. Nose is roasty smoked malt, corn flakes, backup hops, earthy. Tastes munich malty, somewhat marzeny/viennaish, with a definite smoked malt undercurrent, some hops, and some earthy notes. A decent late summer/autumn beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle from Trader Joes, Fairfield, CT in pint glass. Brown with lasting head and some lace. Toasted caramel yeasty aroma. Roasted caramel mild plummy fruit brown sugar and very mild smoky ash. Pretty damn good for a brown ale, but begs the question: Why?

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted sweety malt and smal hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew that I would recommend to a freind.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2010 Cola brown in color. Nicely malt forward without being too sweet. A little too bold style wise in my opinion. Could use some spice to add a kick.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The appearance is brown of course, reddish brown, translucent, light tan head. The aroma is nutty, grassy, slightly earthy. The flavor is more nutty, grassy, malty. The finish is very mild noble hop bittering. This is the only place where hops are in evidence in this beer. Medium, sightly thin mouthfeel. Standard, serviceable brown ale, but not remarkable at all. Not much in the often present chocolate or coffee you may see in this style.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from BOTW. Not-too-dark brown pour with a thin head. Aroma is standard brown all, with nutty malt. I was almost expecting some hoppiness here, but I can’t find any. The flavor is very nice and easy to drink, nutty and lightly sweet. A very nice fall session. I like it.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Delaney’s. Serviceable brown. Very dark brown, almost opaque. 3/8 inch of white foamy head. Some lace. Neutral aroma. Served a little on the cold side. Very drinkable, on the sweet side. The head looked a little unusual pattern, like mould spores.

6 pack from Giant in Vienna. Sierra is my ALL TIME favorite brewery and I consider them the pioneers of pale and IPA craft type brews.. Now with this addition to their mix, I must say they truely can do it all.. Pours a chocolate almost cocoa brown with a scent of toasted nuts or even melted chocolate. The taste is quite sensational with that wonderful mix of malted caramel and the slight bitterness of challenger hops.. Perfect beer to drink with a nice cigar, possibly an alec bradley or bolivar (both were great with the Tumbler). The chocolate hits your palate early but then fades into the background as a malted crispness takes the forefront with the finest hoppy complexion. very very good brown ale.. great as the leaves change..
