3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 12, 2010 Draft pint at Bearden Beer Market. Clear brown with a lasting disc of foam. Nose is mild, but has hints of toasted nut, light char, cocoa, and caramel. Flavor is stronger with smoke, but more of the same as the aroma, with a touch of orange and dry wood on the finish. Near-medium body is smoothly carbonated, lightly tingly and watery, balanced and very sessionable.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear dark iced coffee brown with golden highlights and a modest but persistent off-white head. Aromas of coffee, grains, brown sugar, and candied orange peel. Grainy sweet base with notes of chocolate, coffee, and orange; very slightly bitter herbal finish. Light body, creamy texture, soft to average carbonation. Pleasant, quaffable, and toasty.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From a bottle poured a brown color with a fair amount of head. Nice light sweet toasted malty flavor with a quick finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Brown, thin head that disappeared quickly. Aroma is malty but not too much there. Flavor is a little more malt, I donít get the chocolate or smoked malts the description boats of. Kind of plain but easy drinking and smooth. I could probably destroy some of these this fall when I just want to drink and not think about it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not a fan of this. Yeasty character underneath...malts donít have any vivid sensations of anything....I didnít take notes because frankly, there was nothing interesting to think about...but I did drink 5 12oz bottles which means this rating, which says pretty much nothing is worth a hell of fucking lot more than some douchebag european who says a lot of misspoken english nonsense off a 2oz sample. America, fuck yeah!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle into pint glass. Pours a nice clear brown color with a slightly reddish hue. Nice tall, creamy, lacing off-white, almost light tan head. The aroma is a bit faint--woody, some slightly toasted malt, some nuttiness. The flavor is nutty with a bit of a bitter finish. Some resinous hops to dry out the finish. Very balanced and sessionable. Medium to light bodied with medium to low carbonation. Overall: not the most out going unique beer, but very solid and easy going. As advertised, it would be very nice on a autumn afternoon.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, poured a dark brown with a pretty one and a half finger white head. Faded after a few sips but stuck around somewhat. Aroma was some lightly roasted malts, some nutty qualities and a mild astringency. Nice brown ale flavors such as a smooth maltiness, a touch of sweetness and a nutty finish were all present. Quite smooth, light bitterness. A good brown but not my favorite.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Pours a clear chestnut brown with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet and malty with some toffee hints. The taste is just well balanced. The richness of the malts give way to a roasty finish. I wasnít sure how to rate the mouth feel but like the taste there is balance. Itís on the lighter side of medium. Overall this is a very enjoyable beer and I donít consider myself a fan of browns. Nice job SN.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a thin-looking light brown with hints of red, and a huge foamy head that falls to a skim over the top fairly quickly. Aroma is quite toasty for a brown ale, much more roastiness than one would expect. The smoked malt throws things off kilter. Flavor is quite malty, with a bit of sweetness coming underneath, and again the hint of smoked malt just seems out of place. Just a bit of hops evident on the finish, very un-Sierra Nevada in that regard. Palate is somewhat thin and watery, with no real carbonation. A nice brown ale that would be better if the smoked malt was left out.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
24 oz bottle: It poured a light brown color with a slightly tan frothy head. The aroma was suggestive of caramel and even a bit chocolatey. It had a very malty flavour accompanied by a slight bitterness, not overly bitter, but a great balance. As for palate, it was medium bodied and smooth. Overall the beer was delicious and extremely refreshing, a beer with enough flavour for experienced beer drinkers, but simple enough to be had by all.
