From 12 ounce bottle/brown at Neon’s, tasted on December 19, 2014. Dark ruby/brown hue, medium tan head, nice sweet malty aroma, very good toasted malt/bittersweet flavor. Another well done SN beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Drank two bottles of this at a science thing last week in CA. Very malty with a pretty thick mouthfeel for something that is only 5.5%. I would probably prefer this fresh when there is more hop character.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Though retired. This is from notes.
The appearance had a light brown head, reddish brown body, lacing tried to cling to pint glass.
The smell had some roasted malts coming through in a smoky way, some light oak barrel woodiness to it, slight hops.
The taste was sweet, smoky, roasty through previously mentioned flavors.
On the palate, she sat at about a light to medium, fairly sessionable, smoky aftertaste and a dry finish.
Overall, this was good for the style, and good to me. I will miss it, but maybe someday Sierra Nevada will bring it out of retirement.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rated on 8-12-2010 (Bottle). When poured, this beer has a medium sized frothy ivory head that mostly diminishes, transparent body, suspended carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aromas are lightly roasted malt, caramel, fruity, and light smoke. The taste is lightly smokey, roasted malt, and nutty. The palate is softly carbonated and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable and a beer I consider to be a session beer. The malts are upfront as they should be for this beer’s style.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown with some red and a tan head. Light toast and caramel malt aroma. Taste is surprisingly light with a soft bitterness making this an easy drinker. The body is lighter than expected. Nice beer.

Pours deep reddish brown with a thin white head, malty aroma and smooth with subtle roasted flavours. I like it a lot and could drink a heap of it.
