Sierra Nevada uses malt within days of roasting at the peak of its flavor to give Tumbler a gracefully smooth malt character. Two-row pale, crystal 40, chocolate and smoked malts give it a malty complexity. Challenger hops in the boil add balancing bitterness, while more Challengers and some Goldings give just enough hop flavor in the finish to balance all that malt.

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. Appearance is reddish-brown with a moderate tan head and moderate lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel, light chocolate, and lightly roasted malt. Taste follows the nose. Very nice, a great beer for a cool autumn evening.

Dimpled Mug. Roasted malts and coffee, smells delicious. Poured a dark thin brown with almost no head, some lacing. Tastes of roasted malts, hint of coffee. Malty, carbonated mouthfeel. Great fall beer.

On tap from Sierra at Sierra. Really looking forward to seeing the anny fall seasonal take a hike. Pours murky brown but quite dark with dark brown head. Right off the bat some peatyness and smoke very light but enough to already make me love it. Very balanced offering goes down smooth with a toasty malt entry and flavorful finish. I think this one matches celebration as thier best seasonal.

Nutty aroma, pours as a dark reddish brown with a frothy and darkish white head. It drinks like a dream. Smooth without being thick, delicately bitter with a chocolatey finish. You want to sip it and savor each drink... this was a nice surprise in a mix pack! I will buy this again.

This brown ale is perfect this time of year when the weather is just start to get cooler. I love the color of this one but the nose didn’t have much to offer. Light caramel sweet malt but not over the top and balanced well. The mouth feel with this one is great as its full bodied , not to viscous and represent the style well with its low to mid amount of carbonation. An all around nice brown ale. Serving type: bottle

A roasted, nutty brown ale. The aroma is malty, softly maple and yeasty. The flavor is toasted/roasted malts, a little nutty, a little burnt/smokey. A nice carbonation bite for such a malty beer.

Great beer with a consistent head and great finish. Roasted malts that make it a cool weather beer and a great drink. Another great brew from Sierra Nevada.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, bottled on 7/3/2013. Pours lightly cloudy deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown sugar, nuttiness, brown bread, floral, light pepper, and floral/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt notes with moderate earthy hops; and good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, chocolate, brown bread, nuttiness, floral, light pepper, and floral/toasted earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown sugar, brown bread, nuttiness, floral, light pepper, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of dark/toasted malt flavors with a moderate earthy hop balance; with great robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent brown ale. All around great balance and complexity of malt and moderate hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
