3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. The pour was a medium to dark brown with a large (2-3 finger) foamy light brown head that had great retention an offered up some damn good lacing which clung to the glass rather nicely.
The aroma was kind of mild of a roasted nutty malt, a resin hop and a sweet leathery yeast with notes of cocoa, toffee and roasted coffee.
The taste was robustly malty with a hint of toffee and a little nutty at first then became moderately bitter and a tad acidic with a nice coffee note and a touch of chocolate at the end with the flavor sticking around for quite a long time.
Mouthfeel was medium in body and creamy yet mildly dry in texture with a vibrant carbonation.
Overall a Brown Ale that had a lot of flavor and an almost perfect balance of bitter and sweet.

This seasons batch. 2011
A: Pours a brown ale with a single finger of peanut head which depresses down to a sheet of the same with lingering larger pubbles. The foam hugs the rim. Near excellent clarity with cherry hues where available.
S: Roasty, nutty and herbal. I’m not particularly interested in trying to identify any further on this one. The smell is pleasant.
T: Taste is somewhat oaty for me, a little reminiscent of the smell of livestock feed. Not bad, but pretty specific for my palate. I like the memories it elicits.
M: Medium on velvet for the body with greatly subdued yet effective carbonation.
O: Good beer, not my fav, but good.

335 ml bottle. Clear, deep amber body with a tan head. Moderate aroma of light roasted malt, caramel with a hint of chocolate and dry fruit. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, light toast, chocolate and moderate bitterness. Fine body and decent aftertaste. Not a big fan of brown ale, but this is a fine, quite tasty really smooth one within its style. Very quaffable as well.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at the Black Heart, Camden, 13/12/13.
Reddish amber with a thin off white covering/swirl that dissipates to edgework.
Nose is a little muted carrying fruit notes and caramel although picked up a little in depth as the beer warmed slightly.
Taste comprises Ribena Berry fruit, caramel malt, biscuit, hoppy back notes.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying closure with light fruit notes.
Ok stuff, easy drinking affair.
