COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sierra Nevada uses malt within days of roasting at the peak of its flavor to give Tumbler a gracefully smooth malt character. Two-row pale, crystal 40, chocolate and smoked malts give it a malty complexity. Challenger hops in the boil add balancing bitterness, while more Challengers and some Goldings give just enough hop flavor in the finish to balance all that malt.

Purchased at Breeze Thru Wine & Sprits in Milwaukee, WI; enjoyed after a long challenging work day lounging at home. Appearance is a dark muddy brown with a thin pure white head that laces to the glass. Aroma of rich caramel malt, sweetness, moderate hop presence, roasted malt, rather complex but also simplistic. Taste has more of a roasted malt character with a moderate bitterness, tastes kind of like fall I guess so the label does the brew justice. Also a bit chewy. Pretty good stuff, another solid Sierra Nevada brew.

Low on aromas but high on flavor. Lots of roasted coffee beans and some chocolate. Heavily malty yet not off balance. Rather spritzy.

Sweet and malty. Smooth. Medium body. Medium carbonation. This beer is sweet, feels like fall. Caramel and chocolate. Pretty smooth. Not too roasted.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2014 Poured brown into a mug shows a small, light tan head. The aroma is instantly dark roast coffee beans and cocoa. The palate is thin with no body, tasting of roasted malts. Slightly dry and bitter. I am not a huge fan, but it’s not bad.

Bottle. Brown. Chocolate notes with roasted malts, toffee, and brown sugar. Very balanced and drinkable with a full body and low carb. I wish they would bring this back on its own besides the fall sampler pack. Pretty much a perfect fall brown ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. This is a nice simple brown ale that goes down well at the end of summer as you are getting ready for the pumpkin beer onslaught.

Bottle from Fall Pack at local Smith’s. Sampled this on the heels of SN Oktoberfest. Dark brown color with distinctive white, albeit quickly dissipating head. Near porter-like chocolate and coffee, but mellower. Definitely not your typical nut brown. A typical SN cut above offering. I like it!

Poured into a shaker glass. Dark cola brown with a cream colored head. Aroma is roasty and chocolatey. Flavor matches the aroma and adds a nice smokey note. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and a lightly bitter finish. Very nice brown ale with a good blend of sweet, roast, and smoke.
