Our take on the classic European amber lager. It has bright reddish highlights and a pronounced bready malt aroma reminiscent of its Austrian counterparts. The flavor plays slightly toward caramel and toasted lager malt but remains balanced and drinkable with a clean finish perfect for a summer session.

Bottle @ BBQ. Amber in color with white foam. As expected, a good bready malt character and some toasty malts as well. Light floral hop note, some baked apple ester, and a little bit of brown sugar. Kind of grainy for my tastes, but itís not bad. Kind of bitter on the finish...okay.

Draught at 2006 Craft Lager Festival. Pours gold with a foamy white head and spotty lacing. Aroma is corn, potatoes, malt (grain, meal), yeast (sweat). Sour, bitter and tart hoppy yeast flavor, grainy malt finish. Light bodied and dry, fizzy palate.

Served on draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear golden color with a medium creamy offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted malts and floral hops. The taste is toasted malts, bitter hops with herbal and spicy notes. Medium bodied. Strong carbonation. A bit too hoppy.

12 oz. bottle, pours a hazy amber orange with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out herbal notes, some grassy notes and toasted bready malt. Flavour brings out bready malts and herbal notes. Pretty bland, but clean and drinkable. Itís okay, but very meh.

355ml bottle. Pours a brilliant clear amber, slightly off white head fizzles away quickly with not much lacing. Aroma is sweet toasted grain, some spice, dried fruits, hint of apple. Flavor is caramally and biscuity, light diacetyl note but not over the top. Lower bodied and easy to crush. Lingering sweetness on the palate. Sweeter than an Austrian "Maerzen". Blows a Boston Lager out of the water. 6 pack of this please.

Pale golden pour with a tight creamy white head. The nose is fairly lean with a lightly toasted nose. Bright, fresh maltiness with a distinctly minerally/herbal hoppiness toward the finish. Really bright, fresh and clean. Easily quaffable quality. Easy to drink, well-balanced and quite tasty. There is a kiss of noble hoppiness on the finish that just comes across as a bit of light spiciness.

12oz bottle, from my local kroger, split with jstax. Bottled 7/01/15. Clear amber red color. Thin off-white head. Loose bits of lace. Up front, I get corn, vegetable, DMS. Some toasty malt, bit of caramel, and bigger spicier pepperiness. moderate sweet, light bitter taste. Medium body. Kind of crisp, mild soft lighter to moderate carbonation, mild slick finish. I have a lot of respect for sierra nevada, and really high hopes for this one, but it was pretty sweet, plain and disappointing over all.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, bread, some dough, some spicy notes, some nice grassy notes, touch of red fruit. Taste is a mix of grass, spice, yeast, bread, some doughy notes into some toast, slight red fruits, finishing slightly sweet, slightly dry.

From bottle. Clear copper with a short head.
Red apple fruitiness in the nose with maybe some metal notes; simple malt, little aroma hops, but clean. Medium-light body, a little syrupy across the middle, growing bitterness late. Nice flavor balance, but itís nothing to demand your attention.
