On tap at Brouwer’s for Big Wood, pours a hazy copper / orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of paint thinner, boozy apple, oak and nail polish. Flavour of nail polish (?), turpentine, oak and some apple. This is nasty to be honest. The nail polish and pain thinner ruin this.

Draft. Minimal head atop clear apple juice body. Aroma is moderately sweet, vanilla, some Bourbon, light candi sugar. Taste is moderately sweet, Bourbon/vanilla, some sour mash. Sticky medium-full body.

On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a hazy gold with a lasting oiff white head. Aromas of bourbon, straw, fruittiness, light oak and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, straw, fruittiness, oak and light vanilla with a smooth lingering bourbon finish.

A light amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, smooth woody malt with watermelon notes, tropical fruits, nice. In mouth, a smooth sweet maple malt with bourbon notes, a bit light bodied, but nice. On tap at FoBAB 2011.

Draft. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Yeast and light bourbon aroma with malt. Maltand yeast flavor with fruity esters and light bourbon. Medium bodied.Malt and yeast lingers with fruity esters and light bourbon.

Hazy very dark yellow with almost no head. Great bourbon vanilla and caramel aroma and taste with a toasted oak finish.

On draft at the Bistro Barrel fest. It pours orange with notes of tropical fruit, yeast and bourbon in the aroma. The flavor is balanced with some tangerine, bourbon and light butteriness on the palate. The flavors remain bright and satisfying. One of my favorites of the night.

Tasted at the 6th Annual Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest on 11/12/2011. This Abbey Tripel pours a light gold color from the tap. Medium to large sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, with a ton of wood, vanilla and oak. A medium bodied Tripel. The malts are fruity and sweet, orange peel and tropical. The hops are herbal. Mild carbonation. Touch of wood. Nice mix of flavors that have mellowed and blended together very well. Smooth tasting and sweet without being overwhelming. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

On tap at the Bistro -Bal Aged Fest. This was listed as being aged in Pappy Van Winkle barrels for 25 months (rather than Heaven Hill -bals), so maybe it should be a separate listing. Slightly hazy golden orange with a small white head. Great tropical fruit aroma with pineapple and coconut and some oak. The flavor is very nice too. The great base beer plays well with the barrel notes. Oak, pineapple, apricot, pineapple, honey, and coconut flavors. Nice on the palate, fairly light for the ABV with soft carbonation. Very solid.
