Brock_Landers (714), Panama City, Florida, USA Aug 18, 2007 On tap at last year’s GABF. Resembled the non-woody Bigfoot in the cup.....distinct bourbon nose, malty sweet, lightly fruity. Definitely woody in the taste...light vanilla and bourbon notes evident. I really liked this stuff.
SuzyGreenberg (934), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 26, 2008 snifter @ hard liver - one of the ones i went right after on the first day; light amber with slight cream head; subtle bourbon aromas add a more rich dimension to the flavors over the regular edition; caramel, some fruit and nice amount of sweetness; texture is a little thin and overall just a delight Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 21, 2008 Hard Liver ’08 Golden-brown and bright. Boozy, fruity, calvados aromatics with brown sugar elements. Fat body. Lots of booze, hints of wood and vanilla, caramel, chocolate and toast. Big flavour, lots of fun. KrausenJockey (290), Stockton, California, USA Feb 29, 2008 Draft at Bistro, Nice deep red/copper color. Nose is big wood and alcohol. A nice example of a barrel beer with obvious barrel attributes that realy change the beer into something unique. Oxidation and vanilla emerge but don’t overpower the base beer. Really enjoyable sipper. rayOfBeer (226), El Cerrito, California, USA Feb 28, 2008 Poured from bottle a hazy amber with off-white frothy head. Aromas of grassy hops, malty caramel and toasted oak. This was like drinking two beers in one. The first flavors come in as the big barley wine it is, with gratefruit, grass, floral hops and alcohol warmth, but these flavors are then followed up by a smooth caramel maltiness and vanilla oak. Both taste were good but perhaps it need more aging to blend the two together. ABUSEDGOAT (1900), California, USA Feb 17, 2008 Draft from Toronado Barley Wine Festival. Similar color to regular Big Foot. Similar aroma with (thank god) still some big hop notes like grapefruit and citrus, caramel malt backing. All is backed by a bourbony vanilla aroma and flavor. One of the few beers I was able to guess how it tasted before trying it.
