waolsen (1047), Littleton, Colorado, USA Oct 5, 2006 GABF 2006. slightly hazy brown pour with soapy head. Great Aroma. nice oak mellows into apple, sugar, and rum. Alcohol warming. This was one of my favorites at the festival. BrockLanders (723), Panama City, Florida, USA Aug 18, 2007 On tap at last year’s GABF. Resembled the non-woody Bigfoot in the cup.....distinct bourbon nose, malty sweet, lightly fruity. Definitely woody in the taste...light vanilla and bourbon notes evident. I really liked this stuff. Davecooks (1150), Concord, California, USA Nov 17, 2006 Draft @ The Bistro’s Barrel Aged Beer Fest. Pours a deep garnet color with a white wisp on top. Sweet and hoppy aroma with an obvious woody and bourbon note. Sweet/ bitter flavor with more bourbon and some vanilla. Dusty finish. Tastes like it may have a slight oxidation but it doesn’t detract in the least from this beer. SuzyGreenberg (1067), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 26, 2008 snifter @ hard liver - one of the ones i went right after on the first day; light amber with slight cream head; subtle bourbon aromas add a more rich dimension to the flavors over the regular edition; caramel, some fruit and nice amount of sweetness; texture is a little thin and overall just a delight CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 15, 2007 On tap at the 10th Annual San Diego Strong Ale Festival: Pours a transparent copper orange with a well-lacing frothy white head. Sweet caramel, fresh hops, and bourbon oaky aroma. Starts sweet and viscous revealing lots of oaky complexity and bittering grapefruity hop flavor. A nice tweak on a good beer that hides its alcohol well despite being 12.3%.
