Bottle at NOTF ’07. Pours a hazy golden with some pretty white lacing. Nose is bretty, with some fresh golden ale style malts and a small does of American hops. Flavor balances the bretty funk and the sweetness of the base very nicely.

Bottle from the Pizza Port Carlsbad bottle shop (yes!). Pours hazy gold with a frothy white head. Nice lacing. Hoppy, spicy, and slightly funky aroma. Orange peel, more hops, pepper, and the funky/sour/tart taste from the yeast. Great beer.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2009 2007 bottle sampled Feb ’08

Pours a deep golden orange with a modest head. Spicy-hop aroma, floral, pepper, bready tripel notes, and then this american IPA citric undernote - relatively subtle - that is quite nice. The beer really comes into its own as it nears and reaches room temperature. Dusty floral flavors, very soft brett, pear, pepper, mild tropical fruit (papaya, pineapple), small measures of candied orange rind, bready malts. Not exactly dry, just dusty, some sweetness throughout but with citrus-peel oils on the tail. Nice mouthefeel, small bubbles emerging to form a gentle but full body.

I like the beer a lot. It’s interesting but not self-absorbed or ostentatious, it’s quite drinkable (could be 6.5% instead of 8.5% for all I can tell), and it’s just very nicely crafted. I hope I have another bottle or two in the cellar because I’ll be interested to try it with a bit more age.

2007 bottle May ’09 Not sure the age has been entirely kind to this one. The citric hops have faded to an aged-barleywine style, which is nice but a bit out of place in this particular beer. At the same time, the banana esters have come forward, again a bit misplaced. I think I liked this one better fresh, but it’s still in the 3.8 range.

fishingnet (1047) - Brandon, Florida, USA - DEC 28, 2008
Bottle courtesy of tpd975. Pours a clear copper with a small white head that fades to a ring leaving good lacing. Aroma of caramel, citrus, sweet malt, candied fruit, sweet tarts, and herbal hops. Taste is citrus and herbal hops with sweet malt, caramel, and candied fruit in the finish. Medium mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good.

Bottle. Pours with a beautiful orange golden color and a medium head. Very fruity aromasn and a bit of wild yeast. Flavors are tart and yeasty, a lot of citrus and some breadiness. Very complex and delicate. Outstanding beer.

Pours a golden color with a pretty big white head. Aroma was of some belgian yeastiness some really light lemony citrus hops and a really light mustiness. Flavor was really smooth and easy to drink. Not enough brett yet. Ill open another in a few months and this should be excellent.

light golden with large white head. moderate-high carbonation. mild hop nose. malt to bitterness ratio rests slightly on the hop side with a flavor of yeasty esters followed by some hop flavor that is somewhat of resin. some alcoholic warmth adds some depth. very very nice, great belgian influenced by west coast style

A lovely Belgian strong ale. Served cold from bottle. Pours somewhere between amber and red, with a big, full white head that leaves moderate lacing. The aroma is very light and fruity, with a hint of caramel malts in the background. Medium bodied, tastes of spices and citrus. Dry. One of the better beers of this genre I have tasted. I’m glad to have found it.
