750 ml bottle from the Port Brewing bottle shop Carlsbad: Hazy pale peach color with a medium white head. Aroma is flowery and fruity with a hint of pine and a wiff of alcohol. Flavor has layers of complexity with a touch of leather, citrus, honey, eucalyptus, pepper, grapefruit rind, spice and wood finishing with a dry, mild bitterness. Medium body is creamy smooth with moderate carbonation. Flavors really come out as this beer warms up.

Bottle. Amber beer with an off-white head. Fruity (appricot/tropical) aroma with floral and spice tones. Floral and fruity flavors with yeast, malt, and a bit of bubblegum and spice. Didn’t notice the Brett at first, but it’s there at the finish and when you look for it. Tropical fruit shines. Malts are a bit doughy. Medium body, Carbonation a bit high. Very drinkable.

There’s a lot of phenols in this one, but it really works. Peppery, pretty dry. A little on the yeasty side. Fairly hoppy.

Bottle. Sampled at Stephen Beaumont Class at Tria Fermentation School, 8/10/07. Poured orange-amber with a moderate sized off-white head. Big funky, musty, earthy nose, with strong floral hops. Sweet, honeyish flavor up front, gives way to tartness and earthiness, then finishes with crisp hop bitterness. Light carbonation; really smooth mouthfeel. This is a really nice beer; I’d love to be able to sample it again.

On tap at Hopleaf, Chicago. Very light "Strong?" I ’d say farmhouse ale, with subtle funky aroma/taste from the yeast. I liked this one a lot and would have had another, but the bar was too packed to stay in for too long.

Great combination. Not as unusual as I was expecting, but I could certainly taste the san diego style hops added to a very good belgian example.

Bottle gotten at Pete’s Wine, Bellevue, Wa. Nearly clear amber with a frothy white head. Dry malt, yeast, pepper, and Euro hop aroma at first. A good taste of pale malts, light citrus, and Euro hops is on the dry side. The smell of barnyard piss and N. American hops sneaks in as the brew warms. Very drinkable, I enjoyed this one. 11/01/2007.
