3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with even thickish head. Grapefruit, orange rind, toffee, malt in the aroma. Some citrus in the taste with a soft burt bitterness that’s pleasant. Nice palate with medium carbo. A nice beer that’s both tangy and bitter.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Almost black bodied with a stable bubbly beige head. Nice dark malts in the aroma, coffee beans, whole wheat bread, some wood and resiny hops to balance, although its not a hop bomb. I also really enjoy the taste, which is simple yet strong enough bitterness and dark malts to balance. I love this style and especially at 6% this is a pretty clean and very drinkable example. Is it the characterful black ipa that redefines the style? No, but a very nicely drinkable black ipa from France... not much to complain about! (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

330 ml bottle. BB 07/2014. From saveur-biere.com.
Black colour with a big tan head.
Grassy hops, sweetish maltiness and salty liquorice in a great aroma.
The flavour is slightly roasted malt, grassy and piney hops, mild bitterness, liquorice and saltiness. Tasty. Nice Black IPA. A bit thin though.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
(33 cl bottle from Saveur Bière; BBD: July 2014) Pours a very dark brown with plenty of tan head that recedes somewhat leaving a thick layer of film and beautiful lace. Aroma is cascade-y with definite citrus notes but no noticeable hints of roasted malts despite the colour. Oily texture, medium carbonation, medium body and a moderately bitter finish. Flavour is hoppy bitter with no presence of roasted malts. Quite pleasant even if the hop profile is not the most daring.
