Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours dark brown, black in glass, big brown head. Smells of roasted malts, hints of caramel and coffee, quite fruity. Taste is malty with good sweetness, some roastiness and coffee. Very drinkable. Quite dry and watery on the palate. Nice roasty bitterness

500ml bottle. Pours a very dense, dark, reddish-brown, verging on black, with a thick brown head. The aromas signal smoothness - roasted malts, milk chocolate, cappucino rather than coffee, smoke, licorice, hops, ashes. Dry, medium bodied, medium bitterness, lively CO2. Roasted malt and coffee dominate the taste, chocolate, hops, licorice, ashes. There’s an acidity, most likely from the roasted malt, that leaves the finish a bit astringent, and it feels as if a bit more body would have been great. Still quite nice and balanced. (2011-11-05)

500 ml bottle. Dark brown. Looks hazy. Small off-white head that clings to the glass. Motor oil aroma. Nuts and licorce in the nose. Refreshing flavours initially. Medium-bodied. Light nutty flavours balanced by a roasted dry maltiness. Nicely balanced, and quite nice for a schwartzbier. Unlike most of them this one has a personality.
