COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Near black with rich, firm beige head. Distinct aroma of pear and gooseberry, with chocolate liqueur on a distance. Mid sweet with near full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Chocolate and some caramel from the malt, lots of bear and gooseberry from the hops. Warming finish with distinct, somewhat resiny bitterness. Intense, yet balanced modern style ale.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Very powerfull smell (could smell it at an arms length) with grapefruit, pine and similar hop aromas. When I got closer I sensed some citrus and dark bready malts. Similar taste, lots of hops that is backed up with some dark roasted malts. It doesn’t have much of that coffee bitterness though, it’s more of a hop bitterness. I really enjoyed this one, one of the best beers I’ve tried from Sigtuna.

hackobock (1167) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 15, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 17, 2013 Bottle from Systembolaget. Dark brown with a large tan head, slowly sinking and leaving a nice lacing. Aroma is at first fruity hops with pine, citrus, then the maltiness takes over with dried fruit and chocolate. Creamy and easy drinkable, the finishing bitterness leaves a hoppy and chocolaty impression.

Aroma: Smelling of bread, mango, grape-fruit, pine and grass.
Appearance: A dark brown colored beer. A high tan head with good lacing and some curtains.
Taste: Tasting dark bread, grape-fruit, pine resin and white citric peel.
Palate: Medium carbonation, a coarse texture. A big body with a long dry finish.
Overall: Really crammed - with everything.
Note: Bottle 330 ml. Reviewed 2013-03-14.

gyllenbock (4397) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 20, 2013
Sample at a tasting at Systembolaget, February 2013. Dark brown with a creamy, tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and nuts. Also with notes of citrus and licorice. About the same in the taste. Rather tasty.
