Spab (2847) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 10, 2013
330 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a very dark brown with modest-sized mocha-coloured head. Aroma is rich and roasty/smoky, with dark fruit, wood, coffee and treacle. Flavour is also very roasty, verging on smoky, but also slightly sweet with lots of coffee, raisins and other dark, dried fruit, as well as a real woodiness and some molasses and graininess. Body on the full side of medium. Slick mouthfeel. Impressive.

probstblueribbon (3326) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 9, 2013
330 mL bottle from LCBO served cool in a tulip glass. Deep brown-black with a decent mocha head. Deep, rich and sweet, plenty of toffee and molasses, vanilla, chocolate, wood notes, a little booze, a bit fruity...stewed raisins and figs, very nice. Medium+ body with relaxed effervescence. Strong, rich dark chocolate, molasses, dark dried fruits, darker and blacker than the nose, still fairly sweet and friendly though, vanilla, sine oak notes; sweet with sufficient bitterness and a long, mouth-coating finish off rich chocolate and molasses. Quite good.

Aroma of chocolate malt and berries. Black/dark brown with a small head. Taste coffee, chocolate and roasted sadly not very rich flavor. The beer got a medium/thin thickness. Not a bad beer but was expecting more.
