COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

330 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget. pours very dark reddish brown with a rather small frothy brownish beige head that quickly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet, fruity and herbal with roasted malts, winegums, grapefruit juice, dark roast coffee, dark grapes, resin, alcohol, earthy red wine and salty liquorice. Taste is tiny sweet and bitter with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, grapefruit rinds, orange peal, resinous wood, grape zest, moist soil, pine, salty liquorice and freshly cut grass. Mouthfeel is round, oily bitter and mediukm bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with roasted malts, unripe mango, grapefruit peal, dark roast coffee, green grapes, warming alcohol and resinous wood. Quite nice...

12-DEC-2012, bottle @home, from Systembolaget, present from Erik. Very dark brown with huge fine "grained" head lacing the glass. Roast and hops aroma, more to the hoppy grassy side than the roasted. That is just opposite on the taste. Hard roasted, burnt malts dominate. Citric grassy hops on top of that. Quite creamy with soft carbonation. Lovely but a bit rough drink.

Bottle, 33 cl. Unclear brown with a huge beige head. Fruity nose with grapefruit, light licorice, caramel and roasted malty notes. At first amazingly fruity and wellbalanced, but after a few sips I realise that this is actually a little too sweet for my palate. After a short while hops are descending and the finish becomes a little too sticky and malty.

(Bottle) Pours near black with a creamy brown head. The aroma holds purple jellybeans, black wine gums, blueberry/blackberry jam, apricot candy, grapefruit/lime juice, resin, spicy cedar wood, pine, herbs, coffee, dark bread, asphalt, soft liquorice and milk chocolate. Interesting and somewhat unique nose. The flavour is light sweet to dry, medium to heavily bitter and light to medium acidic with notes of grapefruits, dark juicy berries, grass, pine, chocolate, liquorice, asphalt, coffee and dark bread. The mouthfeel is clean and round with some astringents. Soft, almost creamy carbonation. Fairly concentrated finish. Medium bodied

Bottle. Very dark brown, almost black, opaque liquid with medium to big, fluffy mocca head. Aroma has a nice mix of both roasted notes and hops with notes of fresh coffee, flowery hops, tangerine, light ash, bit grass, bitter chocolate, licorice and biscuity malt. As said, nice balance. Taste is dry and medium bitter with nice notes of coffee, grass and citrus along with some light ash and pumpernickel. Medium to full bodied with nicely soft carbonation. Wow, great example of the style with good balance, great mouthfeel and a significant but in no way disturbing bitterness. I’m impresed!

Pours basically black with one thumb of light tan frothy head. Aroma a good balance between roasted malt / coffee and citrus hops. Slightly floral, but funnily, given the description, I can’t pick out any chocolate. Taste is more towards the chocolatey side with an initial sweetness that is quickly balanced up by a thick, dark chocolate bitterness. It’s not wildly bitter, however, more gentle, and the finish is slight but lingering. Body is light yet creamy. A decent attempt at this very hard style.

Bottle from Systembolaget, december 31st 2012. Dark brown body, close to black, light brown head. Roasty and licorice aroma with hints of chocolate and citrus hops. taste of citrus, dark chocolate, coffee. Not very black ipa-ish for me, but still a good beer.

@ Basunen: Doften tycker jag är ganska diskret. Det samma är smaken med en viss humlebeska och små brända toner. Jag blir inte imponerad och jag tycker det inte händer så mycket. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
