SARA has a dark red-brown color, is well hopped, and spicy at the same time. It has a hearty exclusive special taste with sour undertones, accentuated by a very rich aroma, which both come from the buckwheat.

DISCLAIMER: this is the brown, organic (biologique) version of Sara. Note that all versions of Sara are organic, also if it isn’t mentioned on the bottle.

Eh. Not a lot going for it; semisweet, bready, with a slight bit of toffee and fruit, maybe the faintest glimmerings of sourness on the finish? Could be the La Folie I drank last week still lingering. Looks good, smells dull, and pretty much underwhelms all around. Good thing it was free.

Bottle, pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Nice lacing. Very thin mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Nose is dough, bread, grain, very earthy. Taste is mostly the same. Not my favorite beer, but nicely done.

Ett mörkt syrligt och lite sött veteöl med toner av jordgubb och jäst. Inte så illa som det låter.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2011 FIRST rating of anything from this brewery, and also my first buckwheat ale. I just loves buckwheat! Seriously, I cook it a lot, so I had high hopes for this Sara. Frothy brown pour. Yeasty, grainy, brown ale like aroma, with some malty sweetness to it. The taste is tangy and softly sweet, with a bit of poppy seed cake flavor. It is a touch thin and there might be a little wild yeast - very pleasant on a hot night. Interesting release.

Aromenmischmasch ohne Harmonie. Test vom 14.10.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,8,8,7,12,7 - 8,05

Bottle shared by DalzAle thanks Greg! pour is brown and clear with a tight kahki head that fades to a film. Aroma comes off with a grape wine scent and a little sour. Taste is more the same wine grapes and malt and yeast. Palate is thin and slick with a dry finish.

Bottle. Dark black pour, plenty of carbonation and an aroma of grapes. Flavor is also effervescent welch’s grape juice, slightly sour and not much else. Decent beer, but pretty one dimensional.

Dark brown colored with little light brown head. Grainy aroma with chocolate and sweetness, some dark fruity plummy note here as well. Medium bodied, carbonated palate. Flavor is more watery with lemon, grains and some cardboard, aftertaste has thin plum, with lasting carbonation.
