Reid (1000), Salem, Oregon, USA Apr 7, 2004 Oktasted fresh at the Siletz roadhouse in Siletz ( of course!!).
From the tap it poured a nice dark amber/brown, with a gorgeous creamy tan head.
Auite deliciously hoppy aroma..but some nice slightly roasted malts.
Very smooth even creamy for an amber.
Ive read some of the reviews be quite negative about this one..but I have to say fresh from the tap..it was a great amber. Hab40oz (242), Grants Pass, Oregon, USA Sep 16, 2004 Roasty sweet malts, not very hoppy but a good bitter finish, so much better than the Bridgeport Ropewalk I had earlier today. Schroppfy (1733), Ohio, USA Jul 10, 2002 Very very similar to Humboldt’s red nectar. Packed with hops to the core, this is what this type of American Amber seems to be all about. A bit over the red nectar because upon warming there is a touch of wonderful small sweetness lurking. jah noth (941), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 15, 2005 Farm fresh aroma with some sticky sweetness of a lollipop on your fingers. Dull dark amber in amber in appearance with slight head. Hops predominate in the flavor, lots of oranges with some spicy pine needles. Caramel malt sweetness with a melon sort of flavor and a sour and bitter finish. The body is fairly watery on this and the finish is slighly metallic, otherwise, this would be first class. Enjoyable, and tasty, nonetheless. Perkeo (310), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 2, 2004 Pretty sure this is the same beer as the old Siletz amber re-packaged in 22 0z. bombers - anyway, it is indeed a reddish amber brew, with a husky, slightly roasty malt aroma with a touch of soy sauce as well. Very nice mouth filling flavor of balanced malt and bitterness, dry on the finish but with enough body to be satiating and filling. Reminds me of old school microbrews that didn't really fit any style but stood out...pretty nice beer for such a dull category.
