COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Silhouette™ is as dark as a moonless night. Brewed in the style of a Russian Imperial Stout, aromas of coffee, molasses, chocolate, and prune meld with an intense dark roasted character. This complex beer is rich, full bodied and will warm the senses. We will be releasing two versions of Silhouette™, barreled and un-barreled. The barreled version was brewed in 2011 and has been aged in 12-year old oak bourbon barrels. It is masterfully blended by our brewmaster Matt Hall. Look for bourbon, leather, and oak notes. The barreled version will be available from the brewery in 750ml bottles. There will be 1500 individually numbered bottles available.

5/2/13. 22oz bomber thanks to CLevar! LOL BROS! Black pour with a small tan head that cuts but sticks and laces decently. Rich molasses, dark fruits, brown sugar, chocolate, coffee, and a touch of booze in the aroma and flavor. Tasty!

Bomber thanks to CLevar. Pours a jet black color with a medium light brown head with some reddish tint. A light nose of tobacco and cocoa. The flavor is excellent: rum, coconut, some roast, metal, dark fruit, very dry at times, big bitter chocolates. Light heat, but overall quite drinkable (disclaimer, I did get buzzed quick whilst grading papers). Very good.

Bomber pours an opaque dark brown/black with vanishing tan head but good lacing. Aroma is full of roasted malts with molasses, dark fruits, some chocolate, olive oil, and smoke. Body is full with only slight carbonation. Mouthfeel is both creamy and oily. Taste is initially sweet and a bit salty with some alcohol and smoky wood in the finish. I took the brewer’s advice and did not chill this one very much. Overall a very good, interesting imperial stout, but not one of the great ones.

Pours a dark brown/black with big brown head that fades to a ring and produces minor spotty lacing. Aroma is big roasted malts but with some dark chocolate bittersweet to balance. A slight amount of coffee and vanilla. Taste is creamy, sweet, roasty malts up front, then some alcohol, molasses, and smoky wood flavor in the end. Toasty malt finish and aftertaste and slight bitterness giving it depth. Palate is extremely thick and creamy in the mouth, but then really dry and a little too chalky on the finish. A lot of depth to this beer though, making it very good overall.

(bomber) Pours an inky black color with a very thin dark tan head that leaves just a filmy cap over the beer. Aroma right off the bat is canned black olives. This is not off to a good start. Beyond the canned olive there are more normal components of an impy such as chocolate and roasted malt. They’re having it out with the olive scent but warming fortunately settles the score in favor of the chocolate and roasted malt. There’s also a scent of fig here that’s unexpected but welcome. Sweeter molasses here too. Some booze, but not overbearing. The olive aroma carries over into the flavor surprisingly, and I think this is the first time in my recorded beer history that this has occurred, and it’s none too pleasant. It also lingers on into the finish, and speaking of finish, this will be tough to. Further flavors yield molasses, smoke, bbq sauce, booze and charred malt. This does sweeten considerably with warming, and the off flavors subside. The mouthfeel is nice and the carbonation is appropriate. The odd flavors and aromas do begin to dissipate, and it takes a great deal of warming to get there, but the wait is worth it. Word of advice; let this one warm for at least an hour to avoid the off flavors and scents.

Bottle.shared by Kyle! Dark black pour, medium carbonation and dry dark chocolate aroma. Flavor was also roasty dark malt, dry bakers chocolate, a little peat and a hint of sweetness on the finish. Solid beer.

22 oz. bottle. pours black brown with a thin wispy head. Aroma is roasted malt and coffee with faint vanilla. Taste is more the same with malt and faint vanilla and soy. Palate is full with a dry chalky finish. Solid.

Bomber. Super dark pour, minimal head. Somewhat ashy, some dark chocolate. Pretty darn good.

One of the better stouts I have had in some time. Aroma has hint of chocolate, coffee, and a bit of a smokey nose. Smooth on the tongue. Can taste the alcohol though. Overall very pleased.
